Why not just take a look at the pictures on the Yamaha website?

rear rack for WR?
the WR450F adventure bike project slowly continues as the budget allows. just wondering if anyone has recommendations for racks, or maybe even made one up themselves?
saw there was a promoto rack mentioned earlier, but figured at $185 a bit steep once its shipped down under. saw this $80 WR450F rack on ebay, wouldnt be too expensive once i shipped it at that price. been having a ball with the WR, and its working well as a kind of dirt/adventure bike compromise. easily does everything my mate's TE610 does now. put the vid below together for a bit of a laugh....

A guy from Team Moto had his 450 done up like the one in Perth, fitted with the bashplate and alloy oil tank all in one etc. be worth chasing up.

good stuff!Glad to see the comparo. I just off'd a TE610 for more reasons than one. But, one, I thought it was kinda dull in the power dept. Thinking real hard now about getting an '03 WR450F...seems like it could be a bit more funner...

was the TE610 uncorked? mine was sluggish until i had it remapped and a power pipe at the first service - i read somewhere they should be doing about 58hp then? not sure if that's accurate. massive difference unplugged, but its still not a high revving bike. but if you ride between 4500 and 6500rpm she'd fly along at a good pace.

why not a wr450r??
Nice video above..
who agrees with me that yamaha would make alot more money selling the 450F as a street legal bike?. It must be nice to be a company that can afford to make bikes that dont have alot of practical uses. Im sure you can legalize a wr450 fairly easily but im sure it isnt geared right and then all the hassle. Im sure this subject has been brought up before. I dont care too much about it really as i would get the 250r anyways over the 450. Im guessing theres one in the works? dirtrider5001 screwed with this post 01-13-2012 at 05:48 PM |

Hey guys a friend of mine just bought an 06 wr 450 (sweet bike) and the exaust is extremly loud. We want to quiet the bike down and want to install a forestry approved spark arrestor. The problem is we cant find the make and model of the exaust. Attached are some pictures so any help with identification of this exaust would be helpful. The only writing we can find on it is Titanium. Is there a universal encap that may fit if we cant figure out the name of it. Thanks in advance.

Hooknup:
That pipe looks like factory Yamaha from a 2004/2005 YZ450 maybe? Go back to a stock WR pipe, they are quieter, include the spark arrestor, and might make a little more power at low rpms but sacrifice some hp in higher rpms. Here is an Ebay link to a stock WR pipe for $80 http://www.ebay.com/itm/WR-450-F-EXH...item1c1f9220f8 |

stock pipe mods
[QUOTE=hooknup;17823464]Hey guys a friend of mine just bought an 06 wr 450 (sweet bike) and the exaust is extremly loud. i've stuck with the stock exhaust. if you remove the peashooter bit from the end its still extremely quiet but not that restrictive, it still revs freely but won't annoy the shit out of anyone near your riding areas. if you want derestrict it some more, just remove the end cap and trim some length off the pipe that extends back into the muffler. its a bit louder then and you get a nicer note from the exhaust, but still very quiet compared to an aftermarket pipe. next step would be buying the GTYR replacement exhaust tip which provides a wider diameter pipe for around $45. The bike will have a bark when cranked, but it still passes the 96Db stationary test. Plus you can always whip the stock insert back in if you need to ride in stealth mode near houses. |

Plan is to Dual Sport it want to help me order stuff?? so far I have Acerbis 3.3g tank $240 Bark Busters $50 Skid plate $75? PMB aluminum rack $180 Hwy sprockets $120 Dual sport signals, brake sender, switch $100 Magnetic oil plug $10 Dual sport mirrors (have) HID headlight retrofit (have) LED advmonster trail light (have) heated grips (have) fat bars (have) Pirelli MT43 trials tire (have) MX51 front (have) Tubliss (have) what else? mods are: grey wire, snorkel, rejet, throttle stop, possibly exhaust? PMB exhaust tip, stock pee shooter, or FMF Q4? looking for quietest exhaust possible. which gearing for road use? I was thinking 16/40 or 43 or?. Then when trial days come run a 12? or 13? countershaft sprocket. does a 16t fit? also, buddy pegs. I have seen them done but dont know where to or how to get them. anybody? does it have a brake light stock? or is it just a running light on the tail? what is the stator output? can I run heated grips and HID? thanks :) Chris |

The stock electrical system is only about a 30watt DC charging circuit and a 45-50watt AC lighting circuit. You will most likely need to go to a straight DC charging system like the TrailTech one for what you want to do.
http://www.trailtech.net/S-8502.html With that setup you will get 100watts of juice. If you start adding radiator fans and such you may also want to look into a voltage meter so you can monitor the charging system and make sure the battery is getting enough to stay alive. Ken |
