I like my WR, but I think I'd switch over to a bike with higher MPG's before I'd be willing to carry 6+ gallons of gas.

the new fuel-injected WR should get better economy but haven't heard by how much. i can get up to 20% further per litre with the injected FE570 compared to my carbie WR450F in similar riding conditions.

obviously you'd lose some of those gains if you remapped the ignition for more power but left on the typically lean factory settings i reckon the new WR should be pretty good on fuel?

Thanks for the feedback. 6g is a little excessive. Wow it looks nuts!

it's so much fun it should be illegal. it was either a brand new wr450f to replace my old one, or the fe570 at 20% more dollars. i loved my old wr and its a ability to do reasonably short adventure rides, but the berg has the extra grunt that makes three day adventure rides easier....

Love the color combo. A great looking bike for sure. Looks like you have aftermarket triple clamps with little to no offset? Also, I do not see where the extra capacity of the IMS tank is located. It looks to be hidden by the shrouds.

Is that the YZ250 2010-2011 2.5 gallon tank? What exhaust is that? Is everything compatible from a YZ250 to this? I would think the exhaust systems would not be and I can't seem to find anything but FMF or Akro.

Hey gang,

please excuse my limited knowledge of the blue world but I would like to ask whether you have any experience with turning 450YZ-F (the motocross version) into a rally bike. The reason I am rather keen on YZ-F than on WR is that this bike just works much better

I have the following concerns:
- it does not have neither a front nor a tail light, but this could be fixed easily I guess. Happy with this.
- it does not have a batery which is not a big deal, the power will work only when running the engine. Happy with this.
- it has only a kick start, happy with this.
- it does not have a break light, which the orga usually checks during the technical scrutineering, so can this be fixed easily as well?
- will I be able to fit a bigger tank (let's say a safari one) from the WR model?
- I am not an eletrician but once I fit the lights, roadbook and other rally gadgets, will everything work, I mean will it have enough capacity to be run?
- anything else?

Any tips and hints are welcomed.
Cheers,
David

WR 450 street legal for sale

Just thought I'd drop a plug for my bike in here. I'm leaving Denver in 2 weeks to destinations south, but undetermined. Will have the WR for sale in a toyhauler. $3500 and its yours. Probably close to that in accessories on it. Here is the ad I posted on Craigs/Phoenix area.

Very nice low hour WR, with tons of aftermarket stuff and a couple extra sets of tires. All stock parts as well. Titled and plated. Used only as a trail bike by old adult.
Ed 303-473-4747 until 11/29, after 11/29/12, cell 720-326-5200

Some of the aftermarket stuff:

Boyeson water pump and accelerator pump kit.
Large tank
Full Scotts triple clamp and handle bar set up, and steering stabilizer
Frame protectors
Multiple sprocket and chain set ups
YZ fenders plus stockers
Hand guard protectors
Different chain sliders
Aftermarket pipe
Spare tube carrier
probably 10 other things I cannot recall...

Im really considering a WR450F for my next enduro/dual sport bike. DRZ400 or WR450 decision decision.

There is no comparison. The WR450 is a much better suited machine!
