Can you please elaborate on the benefits of the yfz clutch basket?

I guess its made to not put so much stress on the motor. Not sure how it does that.

Somewhere I saw a link about the swap, but I didn't save it & can't find it now...

I think the YFZ450 clutch has some extra springs that help protect the transmission from the extra jolts of a quad.

There are a few threads here and on TT about dual sporting a WR450, and the link was posted on one of them. It linked to another site, maybe a quad site. I can't remember.

2006 wr450f

Picked up a great condition WR450F at a very good price. Got it home, gave it a service and gave it the once over. It's almost stock apart from AIS already removed, all the stock race bits still in plastic bag and came with bike. Everything on bike is original except the tyres and the rear reflector. Not sure what the farmer owner did with it but with less than 1800 k's, this thing hasn't done a hard day in its life, he was a top bloke he did the RWC and paid 6 months rego. Only 2 things needing doing, the filter fell apart in my hands when i cleaned it, luckily the stock DRZ foamy i had in the shed fitted perfectly, and the 2 rear indicators are perished and cracked. I bought it for shorter narlier rides and a bit of fun, and to keep some k's down on the 690.

I fitted the brand new 15 tooth sprocket that came with it, bolted on a tail bag, and I've ordered a Clark 10.6 ltr tank and a Talon Cush hub. If I end up doing to many k's I'll fit an oil cooler but I'll just wait and see.

Love this thing

Paul, who does your garden maintenance, can he come do mine?

P.S. didn't you end up heading on that ride this week or are you back already?

There's a lot of evil hidden out of site in that yard, I retired from gardening years ago.

My daughter had a stack at netball and ended up in hospital so after spending most of the night up there I decided to skip the trip and spend the the time going over the WR and getting the car ready for a trip next week

Trail Ride Today

Took the WR on her maiden to me voyage today. Went like a dream, great on the road sections with the 15 tooth sprocket and much more economical trail riding than I thought, 20 - 22 km per ltr.
Route Brissy nth - Dayboro, Mnt Mee Forrest, neurum Ck, Kilcoy, Mnt Kilcoy, Woodford, Beerburum, Caboolture. About 250ks and a sore ass later.

That ride would have been more comfortable on the 690, but if I was only going to one of the places for a ride the WR would be fun.

Nasty Cruz, your starting to sound like my wife,
"why have you bought another bike", " why do you have to pull them apart when you buy them ", " why do you have to buy more things for them"
