I was, but my friend thought it would be to cold for him, but now it has changed to going in August or September, so he might change his mind

BTW, anyone planning on going by Salvador send me a priv and ill hook you up with a place to stay.

I agree. Eric should do Ushuaia.

I've done research, and last year Ushuaia's average daily high for mid May is 50, and the low is 39. Sounds doable to me. But my concern is on getting to Ushuaia- Mountain passes that freeze up early and the like. Any thoughts? I mean come on, it's 1000 Km from Antarctica!
Randy.where are you now?Wish we could have got together and done this at the same time.I plan to leave in November.2 Buckeyes in SA.Are you doing a RR as you go?

We'll be leaving Denver 2up in late Aug/early Sept heading south and seeing how far we get before winter rolls in on TdF, after that it'll be back to the states or a loop around northern Europe.

Planning on a mid-October 2010 departure from Chicago headed for TDF. Been working on the bike, dr650, and she is pretty much ready to go. Although I'm still up in the air between hard or soft side bags, I like to travel lite. Now focusing on Spanish classes, paperwork and all the prep required to leave the known world behind and enjoy the adventure.

I am planning to head south from the Tucson area (or Obregon, Sonora, my main home) the first of november with the goal of TDF by mid-march or sooner. I plan to go solo on my 07 KLR, but figure there will be many opportunities to join other riders along the way. I am currently in San Miguel de Allende, Guanajuato taking Spanish lessons for a month. FYI, I highly recommend riding the road from Mazatlan to Durango "the devils backbone", an incredible ride.

Happy riding and I hope to see you on down the road.
