It's almost time

90 days to departure date. My wife and I are quiting our jobs on October 29th, we will have a couple of weeks to work on final details, and we will be ready to go

heading south soonish

Me and my boyfriend are leaving on a 10 month trip. We are supposed to roll out of town on the 21st, but i'm not sure we can make it happen. soooo many details. We are both going to be riding '06 BMW f650gs dakars. A friend suggested we uglefy the bikes a bit. any suggestions?

One suggestion is, work like a dog getting ready but make sure you go on the 21st. You may only make it to the next town to crash out for a day of rest but make sure your under way. The trip really begins when you leave !

We are going to put the hack on a boat in Panama. We already got a quote and the cost is going to be the same as shipping two bikes ..... about $700 to $800

bring expensive gear? or not?

I just got the sh*t scared out of me by local motorcycle shop dude. he leads off-road trips to mexico twice a year. He said that if we bring camera or computer it WILL be stolen. no matter what. we are bringing a small laptop, regular panasonic camera, headcam and one handheld sony video camera. we want to make a movie of our trip, so leaving behind this stuff would be a major decision. i know bad things can happen, but really?
