Mazatlan. All this security says I'm safe, or not safe???

Got a great ocean view room fo $55 at La Siesta hotel in beautiful "Old Mazatlan" Stayed here on my way down but never really had enough time to really enjoy the place.

Suzi felt Safe, Secure and admired in the inside courtyard. She especially liked being near the fountain.

So my back tire was worn down to the steel belt. Time to instal the new tire.
Couldn't ask for a nicer place to do the job. Except it took twice as long with all the people stopping to talk.

Called home & found out my wifes brother Mike was now told he likely only had a few days. This is as I was worried about, so it was good I changed the tire did maintenance on the bike & was already headed north.
Got online & got a flight booked out of Phoenix. I now had to get there in just 2 days.
I knew this was a rush trip but I had to get my motorcycle out of Mexico now due to the current circumstances at home plus I was also scheduled for Heart surgery end of next month.

Got to San Carlos. Got a grand reception from the locals as you can see.

Friendly locals!!!

Stayed at the Best Western again & had a most incredible time & meal in the attached restaurant. They remembered me there from the last time & were really friendly. One of the waiters Luis was a super nice guy, had a great conversation with him & got some more Spanish practice. He recommended one of thier specialty dinner dishes & it was fantastic.

I love this place. Beautiful.

Well this is the last picture & post of this ride report.

Left San Carlos for Phoenix but when I got to Aduana, Customs 20 miles away from Sonoyta & the US border in good time ~ 3:00. It was then I discovered that my import certificate for the bike was missing. So now I could not check Suzi out of Mexico. This could cost me my $400 bond & give me problems to re-enter Mexico at a later time. They told me I would have to ride into Sonoyta & put in a police report. Took a while in Sonoyta to find & then was told it was a different
office I needed it had just closed. This was ~ 4pm. They told me it would open back up at 6:00. I first thought 6am. Crap My flight from Phoenix departs at 11:35AM. Then fortunately found out it Was 6:00 PM. I would have to wait. Went for dinner and extra ride. Took some pictures. This was the best one. Got back for 6:00 out by ~6:40 with my required paperwork. It's now dark, I'm rushing back to Aduana & have to pass back thru some construction areas. Big trucks, dust, Blahh!!! Stand up, pass them, dodge the oncoming ones. Finally get back on pavement sit down & holy crap my GPS is missing.
SHi.... Back track & forth. Did I mention it's dark. Can't find it AAAGH!!! & I gotta get going. I continue to Aduana. Get Bike checked out. Heading back to Sonoyta again looking for GPS thru construction Zone. Probably got buried & crushed by one of those trucks. BUMMER!!!
US border closes at Midnite. ˇArriba! ˇArriba! ˇEpa! ˇEpa! ˇEpa! Ándele, Arriba!!
Didn't make it.
Gotta find a hotel. Border opens at 6AM. I'm there. Phoenix by 9. Got Suzi a room. Airport just in time. Stress.
Well I'm still alive, but unfortunately by the time I got home my brother in law Mike had passed away that afternoon. 53 years old. We were born the same year! Way too young. A very sad & distraught scene at home. He was a great guy & much loved. Rest in peace Mike.

Live life to its' fullest my friends!
Note the saying I've stated for years below in RED.

Hey Roland first of all I am sorry about your brother in law.

Great adventure though!!!!!!!!

Did I miss the lock up part and deportation???

Nice to see the technical pictures of the tire change. Saw the WD40, are you still using that as chain lube?

Merry Christmas and a Happy and Healthy New Year!!!!!!

Hi Roland,

I've been monitoring your adventures for some time now. I certainly admire the way you make "time count". I too was curious about the lock up and deportation .... I didn't find it in the thread?

I'm now in Boise ( moved from AZ ). When you get up this way, be sure to look me up.

Best wishes ... hope all goes well with you medical condition.
