The Square is largely surrounded by restaurants. Very pleasant.

Lots of police here & very friendly. Thought this would be good place to park when I went to see the Catadrel.

Did I mention the police were friendly.

Very Busy place!

My Plan is for Central Am, this winter & into South Am spring.
Stay tuned you'll recognise a lot of these places in the following pics.
Keep in touch & stay safe.
We kinda have a general plan but will basically be just wandering around. We had a general plan last winter and as soon as we crossed the border it went out the window. We stayed a few nights at a place we hadn't even considered, Tula de Allende. Cool little town. We spent a little over a week in Zipolite last winter and we are def going back. Hope to spend at least a couple of weeks there this winter. Some of the best food I have had in Mexico was in Zipolite. Maybe we will also get over to Mazunte and San Augustonillo. Last year we never started the bike during the week we were there. It was just too darn relaxing. Probably stay a week or so in Taxco again. 2-3 weeks in the SMdA, Guanajuato area. Maybe a week or so in Zacatecas. I really liked that town and it has been 6 years since I was last there. We might even get down to Guatemala. We don't get in a hurry. If we get tired or bored with some place we will head on. Thing is I never seem to get tired of the places I have been. I could stay a month or more in most of them and not run out of things to see and do. Even when on the road we don't want to stay less than 2 nights in any place. That gives us a full day to wander around and see the town. Our plan is to leave NC the first week of January and stay in Mexico until it warms up here. At least a couple of months, maybe 3.

When are you heading south? It would be great to run into you down south.

Edit: loved the pics of Zipo and Mazunte. I gotta get over there this year.

We hope to be kicked back under the palapa in Zipolite by the middle of January. We are having a New Years party and hope to get on the road south a few days after that.

Eek

Checked out this amazing tree at Santa Maria Del Tule
Its trunk has a circumferencee of 42.0 m (137.8 ft), & a diameterr of 14.05 m ~ 44ft WOW!
The age is unknown, with estimates ranging between 1,200 and 3,000 years, and even one claim of 6,000 years

The tree is occasionally nicknamedd the "Tree of Lifee" from the images of animals that are reputedly visible in the tree's gnarled trunk.

Headed back SE on MEX 190 another great road. Where it turn east at bottom was very windy and there were hundreds of Wind Turbines across the hills & landscape.
Then headed up Mex 190 another great & fun road.
To San Cristobal

Native vendors making a living. Beautiful people!

Bought this new shirt I am wearing & a few other trinkets.

I always looked to stay at a hotel as close to the central square as possible. It would always be a hub of activity & most often there would be some awesome Cathedral.
Street food was always available there also & generally excellent.
San Cristobal was a really cool town.
