Went back to the Sequoia National park. From the east this time I was able to take the road going north thru the park.

This Bear had just ran in front of me.

Too bad the picture is hazy but all the bits of twisty road you see are all one road. The one I am riding.
Never rode one with so many tight, tight twisties. You'd almost be falling over getting round the turns.

Them's some big treees!

Yosemity National park. Rises, Mountains, Cliffs, rocks & waterfalls everywhere. Truly spectacular.

This place is so spectacular the picture cannot even capture it.
Camped here overnite & froze my ass-ets. Too cold to sleep & then had a terrible ride in the rain to San Francisco.

Checked into hotel, need a nap bad.

Well though the 1st half of the day was terrible, once I got into San Francisco, & had a nap, it all changed.
I met & had a beer with Jean Luc, fellow ADV rider who lives in San Francisco. He was largely my inspiration to "Ride the World" with his "Chasing Summer thread".http://www.advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=260655 I caught on to the thread in Dec 2008 when I had broke my shoulder blade snoemobiling & then could not go on the Baja Mexico dirt biking trip booked for january. His reporting was like you were along on his adventure with him. Just what I needed at the time. Fantastic! Except for how it ended.
It was so cool to meet up & chat with Jean Luc. I felt as though I already new him. Awsome guy.

Got this shot right after.

Rode down the famous switch backs of Lombard street. Cool!

Alcatraz in the distance in the Bay.

The streets/hills of Sanfrancisco are amazing. & the homes built on the hills.

Help!!!

Got storage for Suzi nice & close to the airport but the price here is 4x the price of Vegas.
This unit is on the 2nd floor, I had to take Suzi in the elevator. & it's more like a closet than a garage.

Experienced my 1st lane splitting thru snarled traffic on the 101 having to get to the storage & airport on time. Wow, that was great! But not the "Fast & Furious, rather, Slow & Cautious!
Home!

Back to SanFrancisco.
This pic snapped by my friend Jeff also out from Ontario doing a 3 week western tour.
I new his itiniery & called him up on my arrival.

This is Jeffs 2nd trip west. This time he had his bike shipped to
Vancouver & will ultimately ride it back to home in London Ontario at the end of his western tour.
Jeff & I &

North on the Pacific Coast HWY1

Spectacular ride.

So many beautiful wild flowers.

No worries, they're not real.

Did a dual sport route through some cool coastal forest terrain but after much adversary came down to this. I know it looks up hill but it was a fair grade down. I could have got through ok but was worried that if I got stopped further along I may not have be able to get back up it plus it was getting late.

It was not an easy turn around. I had to pull the weight over on the kick stand and slide it around. You can see the mark in the dirt.

Fortunately there was a camp ground not too far back so I was able to camp out.
I met fellow ADVers Linda, Larry & Johnathan there. Linda had broken the clutch lever on her BMW. Larry had gone to get her a new one.

& I thought everything was BIG in Texas!!!
Amazing this tree being over 2400 years old. Alive all that time & around well before even Christ.

Went to & camped out in the Humbolt redwoods Park.
"Avenue of the Giants" certainly was!

love the abundance of beautiful wild flowers. Some of those are very big as you can see.

Almost hit this giant pinecone.

On my way to Virginia City Nevada for the weekend.

Went to virginia City Nevada for the weekend. Great place, great fun. Got a great room at the Silver Queen hotel. My room on the 2nd had great access off road behind the hotel. I was able to conveniently offload the bike to do some nice lightweight Dualsport riding in the area.

I had in part gone to virginia City for some expected Live Country & Western entertainment. There was however none happening till Sunday afternoon. Huh!
Turns out there was a hippie festival this weekend. As partof it they were having the "Jefferson Starship" band playing at the Red Dog Saloon. OK!!! It was $60/ticket. WELL it was awsome! and what a great venue.

Plus as you can see by the following pictures they were having a hippie parade saturday.

That was fun & cool. Weather is awsome, I'm going out for a ride.

Peace man!!!

Did some great local Trails. Best one was recommended to me by my friend & fellow ADVer Jean Luc from San Francisco.
Here are just a few pics.

saturday nite saw a Pink Floyd tribute Band. They were great. Lazers & all.
But here was the highlight of the weekend and the most fun (next to riding) I have had on all of my Fly-ride West rides.
Sunday afternoon at the end of my ride I discovered a magical time machine & was tranported back to the late 1800's to the the Bucket of Blood saloon. Wow! Was that cool! Great Saloon, Band & People. Fantastic fun!

Why is this man smiling???

Of course these ladies would be smiling

Man that was a good time

Eh? Ghost in my room.

Oh so when I transported back in time to present I had left my room for a moment to get something from the bike. I had checked the door to my room to make sure it would not shut on me as I didn't have the key handy.
Well I get back to the room, the door is shut .
I go down to the front desk, er the bar in the saloon, which double as the front best & asked the barmaid, er front desk clerk, if there were Ghosts in the hotel (I had been hearing a lot of Ghost stories from people). She says "well there are rumours". So I say to her with a bewildered look "well one just closed the door to my room while I was out of it for just a second and unfortunately my key is inside." There were afew other people at the bar who broke out
I was a little nervous when I went back to the room
I made a terrible discovery the next morning.
