He caught a couple of the high points but the lens got worse and worse.

Come down and join us for all or part.

Over on the "Two Wheeled Texans" forum, we're doing a ride to Franconia Brewery in McKinney for the tour this Saturday. Then, probably gonna ride some country roads east of McKinney afterwards.

See here for details: http://www.twtex.com/forums/showthread.php?t=72555

DL1000 here too, not a lot of experience in the dirt but looking to change that. I'm down most weekends if you don't mind a tag along.

Roberto and Tex76: I will definitely ping you before my next ride. Last weekend I rode up to Muenster and rode my V-strom around Red River Motorcycle Trails. It was a lot of fun, and the shock factor on the faces of guys on small dirt bikes was fun too. (I've ridden there many times on my XR650 so I'm familiar enough with the park to stay out of serious trouble...)

I'm hoping for a ride next Sunday (the 20th).

CodyY and I went on a ride yesterday down to Cranfills Gap. Roughly a 238 mile loop.

================================================== ============

About... some number of months ago, I started putting together a route to explore some of the roads in the DFW Area DS map.

Between learning Garmin's new BaseCamp (BaseCrap) software and scheduling, the ride didn't happen until this past weekend.

CodyY and I met at the Chisolm Restaurant in Godley to kick off the ride. The place was hopping... with about 4 patrons total. Mostly the local blue collar workers, sipping on their coffee, by themselves, watching bad television.

The only downside to being the guy with the camera, is that you seldom gets pictures of yourself. This is one of... two?

It isn't hot yet, so let's hit the road, jack.

Our route out of Godley would take us down 2331, short stint on 67, down Park Rd 21 (goes to Cleburne State Park), then FM 56 to CR 2800.

Most of those are paved, but CR 2800 is a nice gravel road that runs for about 11.5 miles between FM 56 and Morgan. Fun stuff... but dusty if you're not the lead guy.

In Morgan, we ran across some prep equipment for the Morgan GP race, put on by the TORN series.

No pictures of the next stretch, but from there, we went to Meridian, Cranfills Gap, Iredell, and then into Glen Rose. We'd planned to stop at the Horny Toad in Cranfills Gap for lunch, but our timing was off. It was 11am and they don't cook for nobody, no way, no how until noon.

So, we rode on. We made a pit stop north of Iredell to say hey to CodyY's friend's ranch, then made our way to Glen Rose.

One of the places I purposely routed us through were the water crossings on the Paluxy, off of CR 1001 and FM 205. These were FUN.

The first one looked intimidating. Not very deep, but a little slick, and no base except the river bottom.

We decided all systems were go and made our way across without much issue. CodyY got squirly for a second, but recovered without getting wet. A few spectators were attracted, perhaps expecting a better show.

The next crossing was... different.

Here's a different angle shot, showing where not to go.

As I've told a few others since then, this stuff was like riding on ice with a layer of snot.

A crowd gathered to watch as I took the "correct" line.

Alright, now that I'm across, let's see what's broke...

I'm (comfortably) soaked now, and the only casualty was the bar end slider on the right side. Not bad. At least I'd be cool for a while.

We hooked up with 51 after that, and made our way to CodyY's shop. I can certify that the shop is fit for an ADV GTG and the first one to teabag the shop stool, wins.

Good times. The first crossing wasnt too bad but the toobing rednecks were having a good time watching the fellers with the bright colored dirt-scooters walk across. Obe dood even got out to get a closer look at the ensuing carnage. I gave em a taste of what could have happened, but my superior skillz made up for it.

The street ride? 203 to 1012 to 1011 to 67 to 1004. To Loco.

I did that Saturday on the Little Harley. And then ran all the twisty backroads paved running west along the Paluxy.

Sunday was dirt day. Did some real fun stuff that would have tied into your Morgan run.

Hey, Cody. Ghost is up there with some 950 jetting issues at altitude. Do you have his number? Maybe you can suggest something. I think he is either in Lake City or maybe Gunnison by now.
