Recently replaced my worn out generic construction-worker type reflective vest with a Zip 'n' Rip from Hi Viz Guy w/ the ADV discount. Arrived quickly; highly recommended! Haven't ridden much yet in the vest (snowed in for the last couple of weeks), but it looks sturdy and there's no denying it's very high vizzy.

Broke Down Scenario

thanx for the good words.

Last summer i was driving out to our local amphitheater just outside of pittsburgh to load out a show (i am a union stagehand by day) It was around 10:00 at night, black as all hell, and i saw 2 bikes on the side of the road without lights. I passed them by, spun around, and went back to help. Apparently one had a problem with his electrical system and his bike TOTALLY went dead. Nothing we could do on the side of the road in the dark. I gave the broken down biker my vest so at least he could be seen on the side of the posted 55 mph highway. Even if you don't wear the vest when riding, in an emergency breakdown situation like this it really came in handy and could've prevented an even greater catastrophe.

Something to think about.

Great idea for a business. You are doing something really worthwhile, I wish you well with it. I myself won't be buying though, as hi-viz stuff is readily available in Britain, and trans-atlantic postage would be prohibitive.

One thing I don't see on your site is something I think useful: a hi-viz rucksack. (I have one). They are an uncommon sight even in Britain (except on children walking or cycling to school), but you'd be amazed how often you see someone wearing a hi-viz jacket or vest, then spoiling it by wearing a black rucksack! Here's an Ebay UK search for "(hi-viz, hi-vis) rucksack".

It's not for me to tell you how to run your business, but if hi-viz really is less common in the US as you say, I suggest you have a huge potential market in schools. What bunch of school governors is going to turn you away when you try to sell them a few hundred safety rucksacks customised with the school's name? Maybe US schools are already there, I don't know.

PS I like your t-shirt slogans!

PPS Here's some guff I posted about the science behind hi-viz
(I'm no expert, I just cribbed it from wiki)

Blame the Brits & the Irish

thank you for taking note of my website and posts. the idea, i have to admit, came from all of my trips abroad to the UK and Ireland. so many city center bikers already wearing hi viz.

carolina safety sport, one of my manufactures, was helped in the beginning by a british company for designs, equipment, and know how.

i will look into hi viz ruck sacks as well.

keep the ideas coming!!!!

Hi Viz Store at B Squared-Daytona

I had a successful trip to the B Squared Campground in Daytona beach last week. I sold out of my Zip n Rip Vests and sold a few t-shirts along the way. Special thanks goes out to the Florida Airheads and Beemer Central as well as Nathan at Boxerworks. Looking forward to next year.

PS: It may not have been the most elaborate showroom but the Location was AMAZING!!!

The rally season is opening up in many parts of the U.S. Can you post a schedule of rallies you plan to attend?

UK lime-green/yellow reflective tape or sheets?

Hi, I was in UK recently and was impressed by the arresting color of the reflectives on their cop bikes. Can you get reflective tape or sheets in that color? I have not been able to find it stateside.

I am holding out for a Scorpion EXO 900 in neon green and XXL. I currently wear an XXL HJC CL-Max liberally festooned with neon green reflective tape. I like modular helmets too much to go back to a full-face.

Just Got Pulled For Being Too Visible

Funny thing just happened to me on my way home from work at 12:30 in the morning. I happened to come upon a police cruiser driving on the back roads out by my house outside of Pittsburgh. He pulled aside to let me pass and so I did. About 150 yards later he pulled up along side of me at a 4 way Intersection, rolled down his window, and proceeded to ask me all sorts of questions about my apparel and my GS.

Between my LED blinking brake light, Solas Tape on my saddle boxes, Solas Tape on the Back of my Scorpion Hi Viz Helmet, and the Reflective Stripes on my Scorpion Holeshot Jacket all coupled with my 91 R100 GS.... he told me I looked like some sort of a Space Ship cruising through the back roads at Midnight.

I gave him a few business cards to set he and his buddies up with some vests and raincoats. In the end we both agreed, if you can get someone to look twice, it just may save your life. We shared some Hi Viz Stories and then we went our separate ways.

Here's to being seen.

Can you get EXO750 parts?
I hear the 750 visor and side plate mechansms are the "fix" for the 700's propensity to blow open when shoulder checking? I would like to remedy this on both of my Hi Viz 700's
