Pate, mate, fantastic report detailing your amazing travails in Sakhalin. Many thanks for the photos of this rarely visited part of Russia.

Train and bike in Russia

Hi Pate, very interesting RR.

Please, do you have more info about bike+train.
I'm starting to plan a trip, and I would like to know how to save time (I have only 3-4 weeks).
I'm looking for a way to put my bike on the train with me, to go to the East. From Moscow to Khabarovsk or Irkukst , maybe. And then come back to the west by bike.

Is it possible to stay bike and biker on the same train? With which company?
Do you have some contact (maybe website)?

Thank you very much for your help

Outstanding !

Thanks for sharing this with us. I only found this thread now, via a link from Walter Colebatch's et. al. Sibirsky Extreme 2012 report. Your trip is really impressive, as is the scenery on Sachalin. Now if it wasn't such a long way from where I live (Switzerland) to Sachalin....

Fabulous report!!

Five of us are doing this exact route east to west from Japan to Europe in 2015 on 1200 GSs, looking at your pics, they may be just too heavy!
The less you know about motorcycles... the more you'll like Harleys!
