Galil Airsoft

My son is a Galil junkie (District 9 had a ton in it) and is begging to get him an airsoft Galil for his birthday.

Nice, and reminds me of the rifle I was issued but dang is it expensive! (you can get a Golani for $500 - not a real Galil)

Wouldn't merge, it does a disservice to firearms and airsoft guns alike (people associating airsoft with guns = lots of concerned parents with their disturbed children using guns, and lots of gun owners being associated with those kids who farkle out an airsoft gun then shoot at a cop car)

Airsoft is a ton of fun though. My brothers and I all have AEG's and we'll go out in the woods and spend a few hours with it. Unlike paintball there's not a huge mess. THere are plastic BB's but they quickly disappear. (by disappear i mean get pushed down into the dirt and darken with age.)

Nothing on hand.

Will snap one tonight, mine is a Tokyo Mauri MP5SD5, one brother has an mp5 navy, and two have SIG 556's or something like that, all tokyo mauri aeg's.

They're good fun. We haven't upgraded because that just makes things more painful. But a good pain. You understand.

I'll put up some pics of my guns later this evening.

Unfortunately there arent many companies making Galils. King arms has a couple models that start around 450 bucks. Any other type of airsoft gun he's interested in?

Especially when you can buy a real Galil for the same amount.

Had 3 Tokyo Marui, down to two now.

MP5- Good CQB, indoor training gun

AK Krink- High rate of fire for a stock rifle.

M-4 CAR with a 20% power upgrade and battery upgrade- SOLD. I had $450.00 in it.
That rifle rips!

I once played a great deal including a few torney's. Much more a thinking mans game then most of the paintball stuff I have seen.

since there's no paint to mark a hit, how the hell do you know? i've never seen an airsoft gun in real life, and don't know f-all about it.

i suppose i'm missing the point unless the point is to play with realistic looking toy guns.

which is... cool. i guess.

when i saw 'Galil' in the title i thought you were talking about the bullpup.

Honor system. You'd be surprised how well it works. There are of course referees on the field for the few dicks who dont get it the first time.

The good airsoft rifles are one to one replicas of the real deal, right down to the trademarks in some cases. They are good training tools if you have a real one and can't always get to the range. All of the controls on my CAR are exactly the same as my real AR.

You know when you get hit because it stings a might, particuarly true if the gun has been "hopped up". There are usually refs involved and those who do not play by the honor system are quickly outed and removed from the feild of play. Most tourney sights will cronograph guns to make sure the hop up is not too severe.

It really is a great deal of fun working CQB tactics, etc.

Few ways, 1 the person hit typically drops very rapidly and puts a hand up, particularly if you open up on them. With spring pistols not so much you get hit once whatever, but with AEG's you get hit once you may get hit again 10, 20 times.

2 we try to be honorable

3 we wear masks and when they or the gun gets hit you can hear a pretty good thwack noise.

4 the bb's show pretty well you can see them fly for quite a distance, so you can often see the hit.

I don't use the biodegradable bb's, but since the 4 of us play over quite a bit of land, even a few thousand little white bb's aren't that noticeable, paint hits the trees and after a bit all the trees have alot of paint on them, and that takes awhile to be hard to see. The bb's all fall down into the grass and leaves and brush. So its really not that bad. Plus out of curiosity I left the non-biodegradable type out in the sun for a summer, they get pretty brittle and discolored, making them even harder to see.

If we had 100 people playing in a match and hundreds of thousands of bb's it'd be different.

I have two pretty decent airsoft guns.

My favorite is my Tokyo Marui gas blowback 1911. It shoots nearly 300 FPS stock using RC134 gas, holds a ton of rounds in the mag and the blowback recoil is pretty freakin' sweet.

My other one is a metal gearbox AEG, an M14. Shoots 350 FPS with a 600 RPM full auto mode. It is a chinese knock off of the nicer Japanese AEGs but I don't use it hard enough to need the better quality of the Japenese stuff. I also have a Leapers scope on it that makes it INSANELY accurate. The 1911 is pretty damn accurate just down the sights too.
