I assume you are asking about places to see on your tour and not just in Glasgow?

Firstly - the weather will 'make or break' any tour round Scotland .... if it's good this country is a biking paradise.. I hope you get nice weather on your trip.

I don't know if you plan on touring clockwise or anticlockwise so just reverse these recommendations if it's the wrong way ....

If you head up the east side I would strongly recommend going up through Crieff north through the beautiful 'Sma Glen' A822 and across to Blairgowrie then up the awesome A93 to Braemar then across the amazing A939 Lecht Road to Grandtown on Spey through the Cairngorms national park and on to Inverness.

On your way back down the A82 by Loch Ness and on through Glen Coe (a must see) .... then, after the Green Welly I would turn back on the A85 to Dalmally and down to Inveraray and pick up the A83 to Loch Lomond and Glasgow making sure you stop at the 'Rest n be Thankful' to take in the view.

To be fair, whichever way you turn you can't go wrong. If you have time to take some diversions out of your way and the weather is good then north of Fort William the A87 to Kyle of Lochalsh and Eilean Donan castle is well worth it as is the A830 towards Mallaig turning off at Arisaig to do the little B8008 to Morar and the beautiful beaches it threads past.

Hope this is of help.

Thanks for the tips, i have taken note of all the places and will try to visit as many as we can. We are packing plenty of water proofs and as much optimism as we can so hopefully we are lucky with weather. We like to take tea and cake stops pretty often so i am sure "Rest n be thankful" will be on the cards.

Thanks once again for the advice, i just hope i can make the most of it.

Are you serious? Mobile speed traps? I'd like to see them try that here! I don't know what would happen, but I know it wouldn't be pretty... at all

You trying to tell me you don't have anything like that over there???
Crazy world...

bubu - the French are pretty bad in this regard, but you know how it is over here, right? Nothing compares to Switzerland when it comes to crazy, camouflaged speed traps - and fines....
btw I think I got flashed a couple of weeks ago.. let's see....

And yeah, the Z is real artwork indeed!

I'll see what I can do. Can't be bothered to go through the photos right now, too much work. Maybe I'll still post some later.

in France it is that

There are lots of speed camera, some are fixed, some are in car and could move...

beware if you will come in France, and if they catch you under 50 km/h over the speed limit they can keep your bike.

Wow - Sneaky! .... and I thought it was bad here!

The A82 down the lochside .... at one point the rockface and loch squeeze the road down to one lane .... so lights work a contraflow system to get by..... they were on red when we arrived so I jumped off to snatch a quick pic ....

Yet more great photo's!!, Sorry to repeat myself on occasions but i never get bored of this thread, I love it!!. I've been putting a fair few miles on the old fazer lately in between getting drenched one weekend then getting sunburnt the next!!, has the weather gone mad in the UK in recent years or is it me??. Hoping to get up north forra week july time (work and getting rid of daughter permitting!), plan on visiting an old school mate who lives Orkney isles now for a couple of days then head south back down west side having night stops at Ullapool, Skye, Glencoe etc maybe?, I'll probably just end up just deciding where to stop as i go along.

Keep up the great work mate and i'll hopefully bump into you and the gang on my future travels (green welly maybe?) and personally say hello and thanks for great thread.

Ride safe folks.

Keith.

Cheers ..and thanks for sticking with the thread - it's a long haul and I am pleased to hear you still haven't tired of these pics. Thanks again.

You are right about the weather - it is all over the place with 7C one day and 28C records the next! ..... Still, I kind of like it this way - never a dull moment and you never know what's coming next! .... makes a change from constant drizzle Lol!

Hopefully we will bump into each other in July on your tour up here ...I totally understand that often the best way is to 'make it up as you go along' (particularly as you don't know what the weather will do from day to day) ...but if you do know in advance what day you will be passing by the Green Welly or Glasgow etc. let me know and we can try and 'hook up' to say 'hi'.

Why not simply admit that the others are in front and just outta sight?

I took your advice on Monday. Nice place with a great view. Good steak pie too!
