I'm looking at that road on a map and thinking that I've been on every road in that area apart from that very stretch!

It's definitely one to put on your list ......The village of Loch Awe is very picturesque with some great views over the ruins of Kilchurn Castle across the Loch......as you head west along the A85 the scenery gets more dramatic as the loch narrows and the hills on either side get steeper and steeper.

Plenty of great photo opportunities......unfortunately, on the sportsbikes, we tend to go whizzing past it all too often .

I had a look back through my ride reports as I was sure I had to have been that way at some point and it turns out I've been on it once, heading from Oban to Inveraray. I remember nothing of it though which seems like more than reason enough to get back up there soon.

More from Sat ....Oban bound....

Smiling in Oban ..it's good to be back...

It's a small world ..whilst sitting on the harbourside enjoying some fine Selkirk Bannock from the shop across the road we were interrupted by the call of 'Right, which on of you is Kamchat'!......a fellow ADV member had recognised our bikes from this thread and come over to say Hi! ...... It was 'chain driven' on his VFR.......Good to meet you on Saturday mate, thanks again for coming over to say 'Hi'.

Aaah....I think the views are better heading west 'towards' Oban on this stretch.... So yes, good reason to re-visit....apart from which it's a great road no matter how many times you do it.

This is the same stretch of road, from Sat, heading east this time on our way back ...the Loch is just over the wall.....you can see how steep the hillside gets at the other side of the water on this narrow stretch..

Waiting to regroup at the turn-off south to Inveraray (A819)......

Time to roll....

15 bendy miles later in Inveraray..third fill up of the day ..it's not cheap having fun...

Btw.... heads up to those riding these roads ...the 'powers that be' have extended a new 40 mph limit for a couple of miles up the A819 from Inveraray ...so be aware.

Time for a brew...

That's indeed intruiging!
I guess we must be right then.

Wow! That would make for a 1200 km-day with the VFR. In fun mode, mind you.
Sure you're not having a leak somewhere.... ?

1200 km's! I wish! - No, we did just over 200 miles....No leaks ....but we fill up every 70 miles or so. ..ie the tanks aren't empty at that point ...but you might not make it to the next potential fuel stop if you didn't ....Having said that, my fuel light had already come on when we stopped for petrol at Inveraray - if you are having 'fun' you certainly get a lot less miles to the tank...

It's all your fault Kamchat.

Awesome to see the crew out and about again. But, with all this Gixxer talk you've done gone and made me go out and buy one. So Scotland make be a little further away until I make the bank happy. And it's getting cold in my neck of the woods so have to get some quick riding in and then put her away for the winter so will have to enjoy your rides instead.

Cheers to your spring. Ps. How many miles are you getting from a tank of juice?

Day's end - arriving back into Dumbarton near Glasgow...and pulling over at the BP garage to say our goodbyes before folk head off in different directions...

First rideout of the year done - it was a tad cool and grey ..but stayed dry with no incidents (breakdowns/accidents/speeding tickets)...so result all round.......roll on next time...
