Yep, that's exactly what it's like - 'being a bear with a sore head' ...but then everything is made up for when you do manage to get back out again in the spring ..and you know the whole of the season lies ahead.

I guess it's a bit like having to abstain from sex for 5 months - imagine how good that first time 'back in the saddle' would be !..and how excitement would build as you approached the big day again.... That's also what it's like. .

Nice! ..... It's 9c here at the moment, dull and damp.

As for the Triumph Rocket 3 ...yeah, it's a far cry from the gixxer ...but I must confess that I would love to have a go on one to see what it's like.

I did get a ride on a Kawasaki 1700 Vulcan a couple of years ago ..... and it made for an interesting experience ...I would be lying if I said that I didn't still enjoy it ....but the brakes were frightening ...... You can virtually stand the gixxer on her nose with one finger so it came as a shock to pull on a front brake lever and feel almost no change in velocity!

Have the insurance decided what they're going to do yet Kam?

Seen this today also:

Looks like both your bikes will be going in for a bit more work, free of charge of course

John,

Great Posts!

I am 100+ pages into this epic and loving it. You are showing off your rides and your world brilliantly, kudos to you and your spirit.

I would like especially to compliment you on the above photo and the series this one came from. Quite superb photography!

I do have some time while I let my surgery heal to get through to your current posts. Getting these foot bones to knit together:

(From a bad auto accident last year)

I should be through in a couple of days.

I hope you have a great ride tomorrow!

Cheers,

BH

Hi fraser, still waiting for word from the insurance co. ...I rang them on Thursday and they are still waiting for the assessor's report. It does seem to be taking a while, I'm just glad it's not mid summer as I suspect this is going to be a slow affair and I am going to be bikeless for a few months.... not a problem in Nov, Dec & Jan, but would have been a nightmare if it was during June July etc..

Yeah, I saw that recall - it's going to involve a huge number of bikes!

Hi there..back on page 100 ...thanks for the 'kudos'...... I really appreciate it and love the fact that you are enjoying the pics and thread.

Ouch! - Sorry to see the pinned ankle ..hope it all knits together quickly and you are back in the saddle soon. . In the meantime I hope the remaining 150 pages of the thread will help while away some time and allow you some feeling of riding, even if it is vicariously.

Thanks again for the great post.

btw.. we didn't get out today (Sunday) for a rideout due to wet weather....I don't know if our season is over yet ...will have to wait to see what the next couple of Sunday's are like... I'm hoping for one last chance..

Although today's rideout was rained off and we all just met up for breakfast instead, Sarah and I managed to get out for a wee cycle yesterday afternoon and we cycled to the mouth of the Forth and Clyde Canal to have a look at the 'Kelpies' - Two huge horse head statues that are being constructed to mark the start of the canal and pay tribute to the canal horses that used to pull the boats in bygone times.

They won't be finished till next summer ...but, being nearly a hundred foot tall, they are already looking impressive......

First site of the Kelpies from a distance...

Unfortunately, because the whole area is still a 'building site' you can't get too close...

I have to agree...They look even more impressive from the other side. They are right beside the M9 motorway to Edinburgh..we had cause to pass them in the car today as we were taking the bicycles out again that way....Sarah managed to grab these from the dash of the car as we passed...

It will be good to see how they look when they are finished next year.
