My old 04 300 is already a 37+" seat heidth,is a 2011 really 40"?
Maybe the sag isnt set right? They're all tall. Stock KTM seats will beat a tattoo on an ass that wont go away easily on a long ride.
Ive lowered seats by taking the foam off the pan and carving foam either off top or bottom.

Save yourself the $ and just get a rekluse (eliminating the need for a button) and some quality suspension work (springs valving) for your weight/ability/terrain (if its not done already).

The big changes.

In 2011 the frames changed between the XC and XCW.

In 2012 the frames changed again for the XC and XC-W. The XC received a new swing arm and linkage.

For 2013 the frames are the same as the 2012.
The clutch has changed, same type on both the XC and XC-W.

The best one is the new one of course.

I had planned to try and get my 300 EXC back together and running today, BUT, that took a back seat to getting the house ready for Hurricane Sandy....cleaning gutters, buying supplies, and latching down things in the backyard. Oh what fun.

Sadly, not this year. Wife and I have something else going on that weekend. Next year. Should be fun on the KTM.

Fwiw, the 2012 (xc at least) has a different clutch than the <11, which is totally buttery. I don't know what the differences are from the 13's beyond the bold new graphics and front fender setup.

The preload was way off and I only had the tall seats for it. I have now fixed both problems.

Good news: I got a chance to work on the KTM, and got it 80% done. Engine is all sealed up, cooling system is all installed again, and subframe is bolted back in place. All that is left is the exhaust and gas tank to go back on, fill cooling system, and it should be ready to fire.

Bad news: For the life of me, can not find what the heck I did with the upper motor mounts.....the ones that bolt from the head to the frame. I know I have them somewhere..I cleaned them up when I took them off. I want them in place before kicking the motor over.

Not too bad though...it was a good enough stopping point..since it started misting here in middle/southern NJ anyway. Next weekend, she runs.

Looking at Munn's on-line parts page the only difference between the 2011 and 2012 XC clutch is the lock washer for the clutch hub nut.

The 2013 XC and XCW have the new style clutch.

2011 XC Clutch

2012 XC Clutch

leaking gas

I bought this 97 300 exc this summer. the upper right bolt was missing for holding the plastics on the tank. I replaced it, and the next morning smelled gas in the garage. Started pulling stuff off and this is what I have. I was wondering what the rubber stuff was, and I now think it was covering up this leak, and that may be why the bolt was missing. Any fixes to this, or am I in for a new tank?

Looks like gutter sealant. The only sure cure is plastic welding, and you would have to get it totally clean of the sealant first.

I'm selling my Rekluse Core EXP if anyone is interested.
Complete with side case.
It will be in the flea market tonight. Not the 2.0 version.
I'll take $500.
