As Jeff mentioned it's Zephyr Cove. The best thing about it is that it's set apart from the RV's so it's a little quieter.

That is until those bike folks start up their bikes.

It is a little pricey @ $44 a night but then it's a fantastic location and it has free showers.

They were in Zephyr cove. Dain and I were glad to have company. Its pretty lonely being the only hooligans in a campground. Eeiry place. By 8pm everybody is in their rigs and lights off. Sorta spooky. But not for us. Crank up the fire, bring out the cigars and open another beer. Were here till the cops run us off.

Did I forget to mention that we are too good to sleep on the ground. Or, are we too sissified.

We have a travel trailer and often appreciate the comfort it offers.

BUT when I'm alone and the weather's moderate the tent is still an appealing alternative.

You should consider that March Desert trip we do. Great people, great location, great riding for all levels and BIG fires every night.

As you can tell Catfish is the cuddly type BUT we had separate tents. And I'm happy to say that the man doesn't snore which is kinda nice when sharing a campsite.

After those long rides the shower was a critical highlight. :PUsmilie

From what I heard Dean spent about the same (~$45) for his Super 8 hotel room.

Went and rode the Saturday loop out to Dayton with Super Suz today.

Guess who belongs to these marks?

As I came around a corner

He left but didn't go far. You can see his head peeking out.

Then I guess he was real thirsty and thought we weren't a threat. So he came back out to the puddle. See first picture of two paw prints and a nose

Since I did have SUPER Suz with me I felt brave. We walked up to look at the puddle. I wanted to see fresh bear tracks. Right up the hill in some shade we saw this

After we got out of the mountains there was some nice roads. Super Suz got a rest before it got rocky.

After all the rocks we road in to Carson for lunch. Thanks Suz . Then it was back up in the elevation for scenery and cooler weather.

Good way to start a fire

This is how our local rider posse does our fires out in the PNW Eastern deserts of WA. Pitch black night, a little beer, then some wood gets stacked, loading ramp precariously tossed up, can of gas in hand and...

Great bear pix! Jeff did warn everyone...

I've backpacked & tent camped in the PNW with bears nearby for decades and never had problems...yet. Run a clean camp (foodwise), hang the food & cooking stuff when done, and usually all is well.

Had a great time even though my van broke down on Sat and I missed the ride. I arrived late on Sat afternoon around the time riders were starting to come back. I did a little of the Sunday ride before I had to head to Incline where I was staying for a while.

Since I missed the ride on Sat and Jeff did not do the loop yet, we tracked it on our gps's. Jeff was riding his 990 with STREET tires and at my pace, it was a piece of cake for him. I don't think he even aired down. He just twisted the suspension one notch or two and that was it.

The (Sat) loop started at 395 going to Dayton and tracked it our our gps's. We skipped the Virginia City dirt due to starting late and my putt putt n00bness. But we did do the Carson to Tahoe old Lincoln Hwy / Pony Express route. It was a great loop with plenty of challenging rocks and silty corners on steep roads (not shown) and even bears in the road as you saw from Jeff's posting.

Jeff stopped in the road and the bear took off in to the hill. But he didn't go far. He watched us and tried to hide on the side of the road. Then he came back to drink. That was about five minutes or less. The wind blew in his direction and he smelled us and took off up the hill the hill a little way.

Here's me trying out the new Go Pro on photo mode. There were some wonderful vistas with layers of ridges for miles and miles. But I didn't get the GoPro to work at that time.

Here's us finding shade after the "hard" stuff. A bit more of that and we were back on twisty "fire roads". Had a chance to hear a little about Jeff's career in motorcycle racing. He knows a lot about the sport. He was very patient go slower the usual pace, even on his street tires.

Bacon for lunch!

Here are some pics I took from the Assault weekend.

Dale is just a big, huge g00b!

Here's Marilyn's wonderful pies. It's one of three flavors she made for ua. I tried all three and they were FANTASTIC! The whole dinner was superb.

Here's some bacon guacomole that I brought out. Bacon salsa too.

Joel in his KTM casual attire.

Our BBQ'r and his amazing mohawk dog.

Excellent chopper stash

Plenty of "shop talk"

Last weekend, The TahoeAcer's came over to Incline for tacos and margaritas.

Yummy chocolate dipped strawberries too, compliments of Marilyn.

Even had a chance to check in with River Rat Matt on his way up to the Alvord area in Oregon for his search for dirt roads, hot springs and R and R. Have a great time on the DR, Matt. Ummm. Bacon pizza!
