Many people really do not know. Lot of mid lifers come into motorcycles so green and unknowledged, and then you have a thumper forum that includes two strokes. You think it would be easy to put an extra forum in for the ring dings. Two other things that make a thumper work well these days. Counterbalancing and the automatic compression release. Oh, and electric start for the the boys that never had to man up and kick start a thumper, although it does make the thumper easy.

I like my Thumper, because I can carry all the parts I need to rebuild my carb in my pocket, it can run on about any grade gas, while its heavy compared to my MX bike, I can still muscle it around (130lbs soaking wet), it handles better than a sport bike on a tight road like when I run The Hill or as you foreigners call it "The DRAGON!" I can carry all my gear for a month or longer, I get decent mileage, its just plain sexy (Prob just me
), all the kids love seeing a dirt bike on the road, I can ride some gnarly single track (not nearly as fast as I can a dedicated enduro bike) and have a dang good time doing it cheap.

A Thumper is an off road or dual sport bike that can thump any so called adventure bike (V-Strom, Tiger, etc) on any trail or off road situation.

Why a "Thumper"?
Because real men don't need to ride an obnoxious HD V-Twin to be cool!
