Thanks Aslan. I hear you're a bit of a hard man too. How's your shoulder hanging in? Are you back on the bike yet?

KTM. It shakes them loose, then resets them, all at 5k rpm. You must have been using a fast shutter speed.

Just try & get into the habit of closing the garage door EVERY night & put a brick on top of the compost bin lid. We had a possum do something similar to our garage. Stunk for weeks.

Piss weak DR front. Should do something about it, but it's not the kind of bike to go throwing wads of cash at. I class it as an 'in between' bike. Does the job until I can afford something better. Ripped the fork off and took it to the shop today. I walked as it was a nice day. Got some real funny looks walking up the road with an almost gun looking thing in my hand. |

Mad
Makairo - Akitio - Dannevirke (though we didn't quite make it to Akitio)
A group of us met at the west enterance to the Makairo track. The road was closed, but we went for a nosey anyway. A digger had been through messing things up. We found Marty near the start.... ![]() He'd already had a look and said it was fine (even though he was a bit stuck). I wasn't stopping for anything as I had a roady rear on. I managed to get to some firm ground after a couple of km (yes, I'm carrying fuel for Wade again). ![]() ![]() I walked back quite a way to get some shots of the guys coming through Steve on the supertanker ![]() Marty on the 690 ![]() Ricky on the 990 ![]() Wade, cheating on the 530. Previous to seeing the state of the track, he'd offered to swap bikes for a bit. He renegged on the deal once he saw the slop and the state of my back tyre. ![]() ![]() The track in it's more normal state ![]() ![]() ![]() Oranges at half time ![]() End of the track

Wade playing around
![]() Bloody orange things. They're everywhere... ![]() ![]() ![]() The Little Manuhara ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Pongaroa Pub for lunch ![]() Burgers as big as your head....and I took a packed lunch. I'll know next time. ![]() ![]() Steve and Marty took off after lunch. Three of us went on to have a look through Spur road. I didn't take many pics as these guys were on my tail the whole way. Ricky was a hell of a quick on the 990, and Wade's just a madman on the 530. Here's a few of them with the Three Kings in the background. ![]() ![]() ![]() The second closed road of the day, Puketoi Road. Again, we went to see why. A couple of slips, but nothing to hold up a bike. ![]() After this we headed for home. An awesome day out. I didn't realise how unfit I was. Sore for a couple of days afterwards, but good to get out of the house. Pic of the day...

Ranges Ride
Ross (Waipukbiker) sorted out a ride the other weekend. The idea was to explore the Central Hawkes Bay roads that loop into the Ruahine Range. Most are in and back as you have to return to the main road to get across rivers.
Amazing day in the Hawkes Bay ![]() XRJohnny's new toy ![]() Salisbury Road ![]() ![]() Dust ![]() ![]() KTM advertisement ![]() ![]() BMW advertisement ![]() Smedley Station. Awesome rolling hill country. ![]() Clowning around ![]() I wonder if you could squeeze a 650 motor in there... ![]() ![]() ![]() More to come |
