GPS? Way too high tech for me. I barely even carry a map.

Looking on Google maps that Kaingaroa area looks a bit like the Somme about 92 years ago. Amazed I got out alive.

I'll have to come for a guided tour on your MMMM ride. Hopefully nothing gets in the way this year. Missed the last couple of MMMM's.

Cool! I was trying to show someone the way though there on Google maps the other day & was having issues working it out

Even when you know the way it can be tricky as they'll mow down a compartment or 2 & turn some sidetracks into major roads & then everything looks totally different.
At a time like Easter you can get really screwed up cos while there is access in from the Waipunga & Minginui the rest of the forest to the west will be locked down tight so trying to un-lose yourself over that way can end with a locked gate between you & civilisation (if you could call Reporoa civilisation)

Cheers
Clint

Well, I may be riding a bit less over the next few months. I'm going to be busy getting our house ready for sale. Only needs finishing touches, but it all takes time (which I don't have at the moment....bloody work).

Also....Mini-me #2 will be greeting the world in about 6 months time.

Congrats Bart.

I have a GPS track of last years ride minus the first couple of km's where we left SH5 into the forest, 95% of it is there though.

Cheers guys.

Finally got out for a ride today. Man I had a blast. It was one of those rides where everything just felt right. Road conditions were perfect and it didn't rain until 5 minutes after I got home.

I'll post some pics tomorrow.

Here we go

Autumn is here, Puketio Rd

Love this road. One of my favourites

I only took the big lense this time, so only close ups....what a beast

Some bush

The Little Manuhara has been cleared. All the little ruts have gone. I could have riden up and down this track all day. Great fun.

From here, I called into my olds place for a cuppa, and then up the Towai. I got bored with taking photos of myself, so started taking some arty crap.

Now, did they build the fence around the rock, or roll the rock into place after the fence was built?

It was one of those rides where everything just clicked into place. The roads were nicely swept and just tacky enough after recent rain. I wasn't in a rush, and every power slide worked perfectly. I love these still autumn days.

Waitahora road

The Waitahora valley is a magic place. You just about expect to see a Hobbit pop up from behind a rock (or, maybe that was one earlier in the pine trees).

Yep. I'm only good for day trips at the moment though. Far too much on.
