there was a guy out there on a trails bike.... check out this turn around he did

this guy was having fun too

the sky was amazing

They also had free BBQ and an surprisingly good rock band!

so we ate burgers and tried to hydrate as we listened to Zepplin on the rocks.... it was awesome.

sunset

wife ready for bed

So there was racing all day sunday as well and when I got up in the morning, I knew I wasnt going to be able to hack it. My arms were toast. I REALLY wanted to race again and I REALLY wanted to try that rock climb but I could tell that I was going to hurt myself in a crash if I went. So to avoid hurting myself or others and possibly destroying my bike I called it.

we drove over to the rockpile though to watch the race.

wife

This guy came though and he was all by himself

then this girl came through and had a little spill but was going great all the same

in no time she was back at it kicking ass

after this we were ready to take off.

On the way out I wanted to shoot this Joshua Tree....

beautiful out there

this guy was running at 90 mph up and down the street with a straight pipe.... annoying as hell

So all in all it was good weekend. It was fun and it was good to learn that I need to bring my game WAY up and that I need to give the bike more love.

Thanks again to the Coyote's for being awesome and keeping my bike safe, and to my wife for coming racing for another weekend!

Your wife had to have been with 5 feet of me in the rocks!!!!!!!!

Great report, eatpasta! Bummer about the confusion on the start time, but good on ya for racing anyway, even though you weren't be scored or anything. Those were some real nice pics, the desert is indeed beautiful! And the skies and visibility is so crystal clear, you can probably see 20 miles. It's a rare day we get that kind of clarity back here in the steamy south.

Thanks for the great write-up.

the dust is unreal, though. I have be massively spoiled by the rain out here because I have no idea how these guys go fast in the dust!

After a recent race a good friend of mine (who used to be THE fastest guy in the desert) and I were talking to our two sons about the race. "What happened?" my friend asked his son. "It was so dusty I couldn't see shit!" was the reply. "Well if you got a good start and you were fast you wouldn't have that problem!!!!" Kind of harsh, but very true LOL!

There are two types of people; Those who race blindly through the dust and have yet to have a bad crash, and those who don't race blindly through the dust.

I got a few pics of you leaving the start line and a few coming into the finish

Sucks about the #'s ???
would Black V246 worked seems to me they should have told you the right color /# combo at sign ups not when you get to the start line

Oh well you got to race, you got more experience, you had fun,
you didn't get hurt, sound like a good weekend to me

We will be sure to catch another one of your races one of these days

It was great meeting you A.J., Quyen, and Motomike

Nice meeting you too, A-Dad.

Number color didn't matter in his case, all the Vets run at the same time.
