Have fun at the enduro! You'll have a blast on whatever you ride.
I love my BRP, and compared to a lot of bikes better suited for this stuff, it truly is a pig. However, it's ridiculously reliable and will take whatever you throw at it. Mine starts first kick every time as long as it's upright. I went down hard on ice this weekend and I used every swear word I've ever heard and then made some up while trying to clear her out and get started. I was beat! Sadly, it's not my first experience begging for an electric leg after a spill because I seem to do it a lot .One thing to remember is the drill starting drill and if it doesn't start after a few kicks, start the drill over again. Seems to help. Back in my hockey days the recovery drink of choice was chocolate milk, at least one banana, protein powder, and ice all blended together .

Well AJ, one thing in your favor will be perfect conditions for racing in the desert. Cool and the rain will make it dust free. This is a hare and hound, not an enduro. Dead engine start and go for it for 40 or so miles.
You will do fine, just take your time like everyone has suggested.

Good luck AJ
I think Pasta will do well. I have seen him toss his GS around like most people toss thumpers around. First time I rode with him, he rode up at a high rate of speed and pitched that big ol' GS sideways...feet on the pegs and came to a smooth stop a few feet from me.
I was like I thought for sure there would be a huge crater when the GS augered in. Nope. Kept it on 2 wheels all day.He takes that GS all over the place...usually on semi bald Anakees. He'll do fine on the BRP. |

As I said before, pick a pace you can manage, and manage it. As an example, 2 very, very fast guys I know (one is making a go at being pro) put on heart rate monitors, and did a local 10 mile loop at "race" pace. They are both A class riders. Heart rate never dropped below 190 BPM. That is the issue. Fitness, not skill. Barry

Just go at what ever pace you feel comfortable at. Its only 40 miles if you bogg out pull off take a five minute break and then just go for a finish. If you finish 20th or 120th you still did good you've been on 40 mile rides before and you've been on 2 hour rides before you've been on easy rides before and you've been on hard rides before This is just a combination of all of those in 1 ride You will have some very hard sections to go through Just take your time in these sections don't hurt yourself or the bike Your goal is to 1st have fun and 2nd finish your 1st race As long as your bike holds up you will be able to do it |
