Im still in quite a lot of pain even doing simple things like....reaching for stuff. Its going to be a few more weeks yet before riding again.

I wanna cut some stupid video but since I have to use my arm for work anyways, its tough to go home and cut too.... so hopefully this weekend

I probably should put one up about the crash and subsequent events, because without that my "triumphant return" wouldn't be so triumphant.



I'm planning on doing an Enduro in October with some other Coyotes... much faster coyotes.

I would say that I've made a 90% recovery. I still have fluid and numb spots on my leg but no more pain. I have done a short Triathlon since the crash and I'm planning more.
I also did a Supermoto class a few weeks ago (which is the first time ive gone fast on a bike since the crash) and im doing it again next weekend. If you're in California you guys gotta check this thing out - $200 for a DRZ and all the tracktime you can handle! Awesome deal.

anyways today I ran for an hour and ride the bike for two hours....so im getting back into some decent shape. What does that mean for desert racing? Absolutely Nothing!

No way man. I ran four miles this morning then switched to the bike and rode 17 miles.

Good! Then read on.

My grandfather was a professional race car driver in the 40's, and he was quite good. He always used to tell stories about how they didnt have seatbelts and how he won this race or that.
My dad wasn't really into any of that kind of stuff and therefore I never got into it, but ever since I was a little kid I have always day dreamed about racing. Ever since grade school my folks would take me up to Laguna Seca to see the Historical Races and I loved it. Somehow sailing through those corners in a GT-350 seemed so possible.



Anyways, after years of day dreaming it looks like its going to happen here next weekend. A total race n00b is going out for the first time on an Enduro and in an attempt to actually finish, Im going to be following another ADV rider.
This guy has been nice enough to hold my hand through all this so far and let me crash with his team.....a great example of the ADV spirit!



My wife and I currently belong to a weight loss program and what a goal to get in shape for; desert racing!

So here's is brakedown:

The Rider:

6'2 - 220 lbs - 31 years old

Riding experience:

15 years, 90% street. The last three years have been an attempt to get comfortable in the dirt via this board. I have been able to take a GS places most cant...is that JUST because of my weight....

The Race Bike:

2000 Honda XR650R

purchased from Rider914 a few years ago with the intention of not whaling on the GS off road anymore and actually learning how to ride in the dirt.







I kinda wish I had a GoPro to document the first outing.... that would be classic!



anyways - I keep up with the posting so you guys can see what happens to me....

Goals:

1) to not get hurt
2) to finish

Brian is the guy that runs it, super nice guy. He teaches this class and some other classes that are more for beginners.

He starts with some real basic stuff and then later in the afternoon he starts to add more complex ideas, especially when the dirt get introduced.

It's very laid back and low stress track day and absolutely worth every penny. If you bring yer own bike, it's only $40

Im thinking about it..... Id need to drop about $1500 for tires and wheels/brakes though.

I enjoy it, Im not sure I enjoy it enough to drop a big chunk like that yet. Then I have to convince my wife that i need them..... however she might be into it if she thinks it will keep me out of the desert a bit.

Oooo, that is not good.

I have the same issue, but you need to sell the idea that we cannot change them so they cannot change us....I mean desert racing is part of our characters, right?
