Before, I had the same problem with the clutch.
When I made the 1000km service was much mud before the filters.
Because of this mud, I switched from Modul to Castrol RS 10-60.
Now, 4000km later, no more mud, and the clutch works great.

I like. It says "Coma" on the fuelcaps.

I think we have some Castrol RS 10W-50 in workshop, I'll give it a shot next week, it is pouring rain out there and I am lazy ass driving Honda Civic at the moment .. :)

A bit off topic, here is a few photos from my latest project, which was unfortunately stopped, as we didn't received our support car. Bike was supposed to be for Sardinia Rally, it is finished now, but like said, organization screwed up this year and our support car came 2 days ago after 2 MONTHS on boat from Abu Dhabi.

It appears ordering such items through "ordinary KTM dealers" is quite an ordeal. They either have noe clue or talk in mysterious ways about the secretive, independent "KTM Racing Company" that somehow appears to live its own life outside normal KTM channels.

Could somebody enlighten me about this puzzle?
Is KTM Racing a different company - not a part of the KTM street market customer base?

Sure, they have the "Racing" title and are by design directed towards the competition market. But given they have sold a finite number of EU-homologated, street-registered 690 Rally bikes --> does this mean spares and customer relations are unique, ad-hoc tailormade procedures for each 690 Rally owner?
KTM Rally does live a bit outside of company, normal dealer channel would be his intranet called dealet.net where is information about mostly everything. Problem with Rally is, that all Rally bikes are hand build inside Rally department which is different building than normal production line and stock.

For example now they need to build 60 450 Rally Replicas in summer. That results in pulling almost all 450 Rally parts from stock towards them in their own building. That mean "out of production" message for every normal dealer inside his dealer.net for almost every single 450 Rally part.

But if you have proper connections, you'll call folks inside Rally and kindly ask them to ship parts you need directly from them.

So all in all, Rally bikes and parts always had and will have their own life in their strange "Racing" universe.

Some pics of different tail structure reinforcements:

All from this thread:
http://www.advrider.com/forums/showp...&postcount=320

From these pictures it appears the reinforcement bars are mounted on the rear watertank bolts. Some other examples earlier in this
thread show them attached to the exhaust system/tank attachment points.

But one question for any other 690 RR users, I am getting a lot of clutch shatter, when clutching from stand still on first gear. It is not plates or hub, I guess it is oil. Which surprised me, as I am using Motorex 10W-60 same as always in Desert Race. But bike seems to not cooping well, plates are dry and bike is jumping as moving from place.
I will give it a shot with Motul 7100 (10W-60), hopefully it will help.

What oil are you guys using? I never had troubles with Motorex before.
My 690rr does same thing,"chatter/squarking" noise from clutch when taking off in first. The previous owner said it has done it since new, running moterex 10-60 oil,i thought it maybe steel plates in clutch warped?,be good to be able to fix this problem!

I am sure it ain't clutch plates, I changed them. After 200km problem was back again, basket and inner hub is brand new, as well as all bearings in engine. It is oil problem, I will test a bit with various brands we have in workshop and post it.

Mine also chatters at 1st gear takeoffs, but I reckon this may be caused by the relatively low temperatures here in Nördway. My theory is the oil and clutch plates are designed for a highly stressing and extensively warmed up engine - enduring a vast difference in terrain challenges.

Since I treat this bike very moderately - more like an advanced, overkill tarmac & gravel touring tool - I've yet to experience any nasty noise from the engine.
It's now done 10100km - owned it since it was 260km's old and only used it in non-racing environments.

I want this beauty to last a long time in my hands. It's my best motorcycle ever.
Nothing even comes close in pure, raw riding pleasure.

Hi guys,

I am looking for the two stickers that fit on the sides of the front tanks.
As with most spares on these bikes, the normal channels can't help.

Any help would be appreciated......

Thanks,

A good picture of the ASO/FIM-compliant Akra slipons I just ordered. I'm also considering the 2009-2010 airbox since it allows a choice of either a TwinAir foam filter or a paper filter with a suction noise reducing inlet. Loosing a few hp doesn't bother me as much as the excessive noise it produces now.

Worth a try:
Go to www.ktm-versand.de - type in part # 76208099000 in "fast order form".
Then order as Pilbara described earlier.

Cheers

Hello 690RR, yes I got that from KTM Versand, I aksed them to chase up the part numbers (from the 450RR list) being the toolboxes and water tank. They said they were no longer available.

I would still like an inside lead for these parts...

Cheers

Yesterday i asked my friend from the KTM rally department if they used ever other oils than motorex 10W-60 Racing. He told me that they used only the Motorex oil and that they had no problems with the clutch during all the years with the rally bikes from the professional guys. But he said that it would no problem to switch to Motul 10 W - 60 or to a very good Shell 10 W - 60 .
He told me also, that the pros are not shifting so much with the clutch
I'm changing my oil and filters almost after 1500 - 2000 km enduro riding and there was no differences in low temperatures or high temperatures.
I'm want to try now the Motul oil or the shell oil.

I've never seen so much oil sludge in front of the filter as with Motul.
Maybe, if the oil changed every 1000km
the motul is ok.

Who cheked the oil temperature at his rally?
I have max 65 degrees, have all covered radiator, and its to low.
I fit a extra Cooler on my bike,
not for the Temperatur.
Its a little Olcooler and the Trick is, 2 seperates Filters are in.
May be i closed the Org.Oelcooler kplt.
