On the whole I've not had many problems with it that can't be attributed to normal wear an tear. And the 13K I've put on the bike haven't been easy pavement miles. I'd say 70% of that mileage is dirt. Also, don't forget the Ganshert factor, he *was* trying to ruin my vacation.

There were issues with all of the bikes. Baja is tough on bikes.

so i think we are somewhere arround the night of the 2nd. that would be about the time that we (me, hayduke, bonnie abzug, and my "never riden dirt before" cousin kurt) were showing up in yuma and unloading bikes at burt's house.

burt (orange shirt), his brother ray (blue hat in the back), and his son brad (foreground) were some pretty cool guys that let us leave the trucks at his place in yuma.. they were preping for a similar trip to ours leaving the same day.. we will run into them several times

so a little ride arround town (no pics) and we were ready to get our trip started.. hopefully to meet everyone else at alfonsinas on the 4th..

I ran into your boy kurt at coco's corner after you guys split up.

We ended up chasing him the 20 miles into gonzaga bay before passing him as he slowed to talk to another rider.

Be sure to give him shit about being passed by a 1975 cb400f with my girlfriend on the back on a dirt road!

We had some beers at the store and headed to the hotel while he camped on the beach. We saw his tracks all the way north to the highway in san filipe the next day.

Next time tell him to bring less shit, sit back and twist that ol' girl open and it'll all be fine.

I think we saw you in San Felipe and then again at the military checkpoint just north of there. You probably didn't notice us cause we were in Stealth Van, but if you are who I think you are, you were wearing a silver XD, and turned around and headed south not long after going through the checkpoint northbound.

so jack was stuck in the sand, which gave us a little extra time to catch up we tried starting our trip the right way in salida with bacon of course, but it was new years day and none of the old ladys wanted to cook for us at the local.. so we officialy got started in yuma on the morning of the 3rd.. seems the old ladys were happy to serve us

(pic stolen from hayduke)

then it was off to the border. i ran lead through the crossing and they just waved me on. "this is gonna be pretty easy" i thought to myself. so i stopped to regroup just on the other side.. wasn't so easy for the others

"no habla espanol?"

"habla mucho espanol"... lets go tami

"espanol? shit.. where's the dirt?"

droned down the pavement for ever through the farming communities of the colorado river deltas, to get to san filipe. i guess it is the off season so we each got our own parking spot at the hotel.

took our first day in mexico to a refreshing finish with some dosXX blessed by the popener

I really enjoyed riding through the small towns and farmland of the Colorado River Delta from Algodones. Real Mexico through that area.

This was Tami's first time riding her own bike in Mexico, and it didn't take her long to adapt.

Before we found a room, we headed straight to the Malecon for some food...

Our $25 a night hotel right downtown wasn't bad, either. I was looking forward to getting on some dirt the next day, so we all went to bed pretty early after a few cervesas.
