i saw a google add the other day on thumpertalk about a temp fuel filter that slips into the filler hole and is held in place w/ a larger ring. kinda like a big reusable cofee filter. can't find it again. would be a great thing to have 1 for the group for barel gas in baja. trick would to find something to keep it stored in so you don't have a wet sock of a fuel filter sitiing in your tank bag. anyone else seen this???

It may just be a hot tub filter bag. You can get them without the ring, too.

Edit: polypropylene filter bags. Cheap enough that you could one-time-use them with a group ($2-3 in bulk)

And now that we are done with the infomercial on fuel filters, back to the regularly scheduled RR.

The moment of truth would soon be upon us.

After we crossed the border it was just a few more minutes to get to the storage yard. If had been left up to me we would have wandered around Calexico for hours because for the life of me I could not remember where the place was. It's a good thing Ben has a better memory and sense of direction.

We found the place and rolled up to the shack. The same man was on duty and he greeted us with a wave. Ben went up to settle the bill, I think it was a whopping 12 dollars while I rolled through the gate to see if we still had a truck.

We we originally left the truck there I honestly didn't care if it was there when we got back. Ben and I felt certain that our luck couldn't possibly hold out that long. At the very least I expected the thing to be sitting up on blocks with the fancy aluminum wheels that Ben had insisted on buying long gone.

I have a philosophy in life "Expect the worst and you just might be pleasantly surprised." I've never quite been able to decide if that an optimistic or a pessimistic attitude but it usually works out pretty well for me.

Given this philosophy you can imagine how ecstatic I was to roll around the corner and see the truck sitting there exactly the way we had left it.
