Of course you're in. RiderBob is counting on you for a tow out of the wilderness.

Still trying to organise time off work being self-employed now. It was mostly bad technique that fried my clutch; I won't be taking the same mistake this year. Fingers crossed though!

My buddy Götz (Hardheader) had the same problem last year in Tunesia. I towed him about 30km through the desert, including all luggage. And it was much harder finding a new clutch, took us 3 days... You can relay only on one thing: something will happen to someone

trails

Do you have any idea of the what the toll charges on the trails are likely to be?
Will we be carrying all our gear each day and are there tyre dealers available as my rear will not last long enough to get me home again
Also I'm interested in finding out how it is decided on where the annual rally/meet will be?

The decision process is quite easy: we wait until one steps out and says: I'll organize something! Then everybody is free to decide to join or not . We'd been talking about either Scandinavia or Portugal on the last rally. Since nobody came up with something else, Norway won. You'll never find a solution that pleases everybody. So you can just start something and see if people will join you.

About luggage: Per alread posted his suggestion: first some days starting from a basecamp, then some days moving camp every day. We're all grownups, everybody can decide to do what he wants. E.g. last year a part of the group departed to Slovenia earlier, another part followed later, one third stayed in Italy and didn't go to SLO.

What I read about the tolls they're about 2 to 5€/way. But Per should know better, maybe he also posted this already somewhere.

Cheers, Andy

Hello H

Looking forward to ride with you again.
The Avon tyres will be ok if the roads are not wet,but you probably know the tyres and bike mutch better than me.
I will use the original Pirelli Scorpion for my KTM 950 and they are perfekt, but for those of you that will use more knobby tyres that will also be ok.

Per

Now, I'm thinking I might use my Tiger for this. How knobbly do our tyres need to be? Tiger's boots are brand new Avon Distanzias at the moment.

Hehe, then you can go on the paved roads, they are free of charge.

Many of the gravel roads are private but open to public.
We dont have to pay at all of the roads, many of them are free also.
The price will be from 2-5 Euro.
If you put aside 50E for toll roads it will be more than enough for the whole week.
I promise you that it is worth it.

Per

Oh I will miss BMW motorrad days in Garmisch. One of the best rallies I have been to and had more fun than Sturgis. I regret that I only attended in 07. 08 and 09 was the 4th of July weekend and for an American Military Police soldier, the 4th is a must work day. Have a great time and drink a couple for me.
