The '09 rally may not have been one for the books. The camping area was a mudpit, though I was fortunate to stay at the Edelweiss camping area. It was cold and rainy. I did knock out some incredible rides on the Deutsche Alpenstrasse...took a daytrip to Berchtesgarden and the Eagles Nest (the final approach to the parking area where the buses leave is the steepest paved road I've ridden up).

Hello all,

AdvMeeting at Norway

Really difficult to say no.

I'm now at Bissau after a 5400 kms driving through Portugal, Spain, Morocco, Western Sahara, Mauritania, Senegal, Gambia and Guinea-Bissau. But this time driving a van full of BMW and KTM spares

Hope to join you soon, not sure if I can manage to meet you at Norway, but we never know

Cheers

Your question should have the word "again" at the end.

good news

I don't have it in written form yet, but my boss agreed to my travel plans yesterday, so I'm in !!!

Looking forward to see you again (those who were meeting last year) and getting to know the new people.

The current participant list:

1, Per.
2, deepfreeze.
3, simplemike.
4, blacktiger.
5, MoxNix..
6, Zedtours
7, ReaperX
8, BikeBrother
9, Andy G.

Cheers, Andy

@wigge: what about you, you didn't show up here yet. Anybody heard something form Magnus? And what's with Bummer from Denmark? Should I be the only one on an old Honda this year?
Talked to Discow (Peter with AfricaTwin) a few days ago, they won't join. Too far & too expensive.

Cheers, Andy

I didn't decide that yet, my momentary preference is going on road, propably visiting some friends on the way. I don't like the idea of being tied to train or ferry bookings. I'll extend my stay in Norway and go further up north the two weeks after the rally.

Cheers, Andy

I'm planing train on the way there and road back home (if I will attend... ). Tires (TKC80) are wearing extremely fast and it is 2000 km one way.

That's why I'll be using Heidenau K60's this year and hoping for dry conditions... they easily last 10.000km in 140/80-17 on the AT.

I`m also interested, though maybe I`m too old and unfit for this, so I`ll have to have a think about it. In 1979 I was working for the Norwegian Geological survey, and I mapped all the geology of the area between Fagernes and over towards Lillehammer. I was camping for six months next to lake Haffsenn between Rust and Leningen, so only twenty miles from Fagernes. I walked literally many thousands of miles over the six months I was there, so I probably know the area better than anyone. I took an old van and a Suzuki GT 750 kettle in the back, and spent a lot of time riding the gravel roads on TT100`s (remember them?) that was certainly scary. Let`s hope the roads are better than they were back then. I went back the following year with my van and a TS185, and parked the van at Trondheim and rode up to the Nordkapp and back. No tarmac the whole way there and back and my tyres were completely bald when I got back. I also rember being caught in a blizzard for two days up near Alta.....in July! Wouldn`t have missed it though. If I come it will be on a DR800 probably.

Hope I can make it.

It'd be a huge haul, but then again that's what it's all about.

Do you have plans to go here?

Preikestolen, perhaps the most impressive place where I've been in my life

I'm studying the chances I have to be in the meeting, and the places I (we...) would like to go after (or before) the meeting.

Preikestolen is definitly a place I can not miss. That's why I'm questioning. If the Meeting doesn't go there I will go by myself.

Another question is the ferries from Bergen to Faroe Islands and Iceland. I cann't find online info about that but I've questioned Smyril Line by mail. Do you have any info on this ferry?

Thanks.
