Preikestolen, perhaps the most impressive place where I've been in my life

That looks like base jump capital.

Wikipedia has this :-
During the four summer months of 2006, approximately 95,000 people took the 3.8 km (2.4 mi.) hike to Preikestolen, making it one of the most visited natural tourist attractions in Norway.
Not sure I want to walk that far in my bike boots. It's also a long way from Fagernes.

Yep... it's 2 hours climbing and back. With bike boots definitely not.

I have already a plan to go. I will be in Iceland from 13 to 23 June, taking a ferry to Denmark from 24 to 26. Join the Meeting at 27. The go to Preikestolen, I'm not sure now I can do it, perhaps after the Meeting.

I will do the meeting with passenger. Hope she have not too much times to walk at some more tricky paths...

See you soon

I had the K60 on my blue AT for about 10.000km. They're not perfect, but OK. It won't be the Transalp with its narrow XR600 frontwheel this year, if you're talking about my two offs but the rather stock, rather new white AT I was riding in Tunesia later last year. But I'm open for any other tyre suggestion. Should cover three requirements:
1. last 10000+ km (I'll be on the road for 3 weeks)
2. suitable for offroad (so no Anakee or Tourance stuff)
3. street legal in Germany (no Michelin Desert )

Pls translate, what is a hedge, and what does it mean to wear one?

I'll go there after the meeting. I was thinking of finding a camp, leaving the bike gear there, doing the hike and returning to camp. Maybe we can team up for this?

It would be also nice if you could bring a DVD with pics form your travels to the near / Middle East last year. Maybe Per can bring a laptop and you could show us some pics and stories?

Cheers, Andy

Ok, good idea, I'll be with a little 10" pc and a pen drive so we can see on the littke screen or transfer to a bigger one.

See you soon

Metzeler sahara3
They lasted 11000 km on my Ktm (I could squeeze out some 2k more on tarmac)
offroad so-so (gravel-great, mud- not so great, feeling with TKC80 is much better)
they are street legal
Cheers! Franc

good idea! I had them on my transalp in 130/80-17 size (it's a pain finding good offroad tires in 17' since all the new bikes and KTMs come with 18' rims). I liked them especially in wet conditions but didn't really try them offroad. I'll check prices...

@Luis L.: great! See you soon!

Cheers, Andy

About the tires.

Sure I won't go with Scorpions again... I've not decided but since my rear tire is 18" I have many options, of those my choices could be:

1 - Continental TKC80
2 - Metzeler Karoo
3 - Pirelli MT21

The last two doesn't allow a free top speed since the knobs can burn easily. But are much better for offroad. Perhaps I will do it with front MT21 (more grip) and rear TKC80 (more reliable).

Norway! Oh, you are going to have a great time. One of the most beautiful countries in the world. Magnus and I did the whole country on our way down from Nordkap to Stavanger a couple of years ago.

Talked to Discow (Peter with AfricaTwin) a few days ago, they won't join. Too far & too expensive.

Cheers, Andy

Now I'm working on starting my own business, so god knows when I get time off. But if I get a chance I'll be there, I just don't dare to say it out loud.
