Can I get some advice concerning a small group ride planned for next spring? Looking for good places to stay and eat in the area, and nice back roads. On Friday we'll likely come up the parkway, so I'm looking for a loop on Saturday of around 200 miles with nice back roads and a good lunch stop. Any suggestions about where to go and where to avoid is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Not sure about places to stay, sherando lake comes to mind if you are camping. But if you are in the area you have to ride 56 from Vesuvius and route 39 to Goshen. Route 600 to Deerfield is also nice as is rt 252. Look at the map and loop those roads. You have to eat at Devils Backbone brewery (http://www.dbbrewingcompany.com/) at least once.

Mind the right handers on 56, gravel gets pulled into the road. Lots of good riding in the area, not sure if you are looking paved or gravel, but both are available in quantity.

Can't really recommend a place to stay unless you want primitave camping. In which case, Big Levels, just south of Stuarts Draft, plenty of places to set camp off Coal Rd.

Eating: Rowe's in Staunton is solid country eating. Edelweiss, just outside Greenville has pretty decent German food.
