They need to pipe some sunlight in, down there. We're starting to thaw out a bit here in Davidson Co.

No tag, just figured I'd post a picture of the new ride to keep the thread alive. Of course, I could develop a split personality and tag my own tag.....

I bought this one to replace the 93. I'm not big enough to be kick starting that thing all the time. First impression is that the new one is much lighter. It is also much less comfortable. I'm a little torn at the moment. I'll just keep both of them for a while and see which one I get the most attached to I guess.

Hey herod...Talk to me about your DR. I'm looking to buy a pre 08 KLR next month but lately I've started having second thoughts because of all the wrenching that seems to be required. I'm looking for a daily commuter (60 mile round trip) and weekend warrior and I have plans to do the TAT and the Continental Divide in the next few years. Oh, and I'm cheap, so the KLR seemed like a good all rounder. But lately I've been thinking that the DR can do all that and is probably better built with higher grade materials and more reliable. You obviously like yours enough to buy another one. Do you have any wisdom to impart? Pros and cons compared to the KLR?

We're supposed to be looking at a KLR this weekend so if my buddy ends up buying it I'll have both in my garage. I've never even seen one up close so I'm a little ignorant. The DR's are supposed to be MUCH better true "dual" purpose bikes. After spending a little time with the 07 DR I can tell you it feels like an overweight dirt bike. The 93 feels like a street bike with a lot of ground clearance and an upright seating position. If I were doing more off than on I would jump on the 07. Probably wouldn't want to do the Natchez Trace on it though, at least not the way it sits. Just my .02 of course, we still haven't got the bikes dirty yet

Roger that.

I will most likely go with the KLR. I like the 6 gal tank and better wind protection. Plus, most of the mods that need to be done to bring it up to snuff are realitivly easy and cheap.

Still, I'd be interested in your comparison after you get a closer look.

It's on Old Hickory Blvd. In Old Hickory. It's called the Phoenix Flea Market. It's open from 10 to 5 daily. It smells funny inside. I'll get the phone number if it will help. I'll also send a map. Heck, I'll come pick you up. Anybody?
