That's going to be a f*ing hot rest day, if memory serves. In Chile/ Peru, the temps drop at night even it the day is scorching. In Argentina, it's just hot all the time.

Yeah, and that Calama-Salta leg is going to be killer, its in a really wild part of the world.

Lots of rally bikes all following the same exact HP heading, over the hills, side-by-side, on the gas.

Yip its sedimentary rock desposited in an old lake as sediments, compressed into rock by the weight of overlying layers, and then finally thrust upwards thanks to the pressure of the Pacific plate crashing into the south American plate. Its the same forces that pushed up the whole Andes mountain range.

The last bit is water erosion that has profiled the layers like that, the harder layers being more resistant to this type of weathering.
