No, No, this is the new honda appeal to attract the younger crowd: Angry Birds!

Their just following on the trend F5 started, If HRC reads out threads I'm sure that R&D does...

Actually they are made in Brazil (Manaus/Amazonas plant). Anyway, the fairing street model is a little bit different, but in essence has the same underpowered/restricted engine. Good for the youngers ride around town...

From FB: (maybe old news?)

Looks like Husky's involvement in the Dakar will largely be limited to the Speedbrain team.

Here are comments from one of the 690 RFR guys who was hired to be Speedbrains Husky mechanic:

"Actually yes. After the initial chaos, Husky being sold to KTM and KTM
pulling Husky out of the cooperation, Speedbrain managed to kept whole bike production and technology private. All they need to produce the bike is Husky engine, which is at the end heavily modified. Everything else is made in the house. They still have 50 pcs of engine on stock, so bike production untouched. So Speedbrain bike is customer program now. The race division had to be rented to Honda, they simply decided that they want Barreda no matter what - and this was the only way how to keep the Monster, Barreda and Goncalves under Speedbrain wings. Wolfgang runs 2 teams now - one customer program Speedbrain truck with parts and support for VIP customers - Ceci, Botturi, Chavo and so, and second truck for Barreda and Goncalves, loaded with Honda stuff. What will happened after Dakar is unknown, but their bike is still one of the best developed machines out there and you can get Barreda's full factory bike for 35.000 Euro brand new. Note that get a full factory stuff from anybody else is simply possible only for hired drivers.."=

Well, they are expecting big things in Morocco also, seeds 2, 5, 6 and 11, but Barreda is in a strange slot at 23 with Caselli at 20 - he (Barreda) should be leading after day 1? Start positions by race number - any conspiracy theorists around?

How do you figure that Barreda will be leading after Stage 1? There's a lot of talent in that start list, so what makes Joan special? I also note that he is riding a Honda and not a Speedbrain (isn't this his first race on the Honda, I forget), I hope they have all of their issue worked out so we will really get to see the Hondas at full effort and not plagued by mechanical issues or running out of gas... Should be very interesting.

Is it just the entry list or the definitive starting list?

He is very quick and will have 22 guys to chase down, so if it's sandy as promised/stated then not much navigation with tracks to follow.

Mind you if it's dusty then that could slow him also if he can't pass!

The bike is well tested and pretty good by all accounts and he has spent a few hours on it now - just a hunch for day 1, Casseli will be up there also.

On the whole yes, a pretty good field and difficult to split - definitely to be won by he who has least errors

The web site says no prologue and they start by race number.

Don't know what Juan Carlos has done to be starting 72 though?

I agree that he could certainly push the pace and catch a fair number of riders if he is following tracks, but I don't think it would be in his favor to go into a leading situation early where he had to mind the navigation as intently. Wouldn't he benefit from sitting back in a safe position early on and attacking after a few days in? To me that would make sense if he wants a win and not just a stage or two. If you say the bike is well sorted I will take your word on it, as you seem to have the inside scoop on these things.
