The NEW KTM 450 Rallye

very nice... some subtle changes, some major developments, lot's of R&D and refinements.

What's the bet the new 2014+ 450 rallye picks up where it's ancestors (690 RR and 450 RR) left off and wins first time out?

Kudo's to HRC, Yamaha and Speedbrain for stepping up the competition... but KTM have been doing this for a while now, and playing "catch up" is not so simple as it would seem - especially when the leader is still advancing at 105%...

Although I do not like the front fairing (that was below the belt for doing it like HRC )
it is good that they have changed things so that we move forward from the old 690/450 era.

Good to see that their tower is a new design as well....

Material does not look like aluminium, they must be reading the Rallye navigation bracket photo thread

Nicely spotted!

looks like some kind of moulded plastic/composite (rubber like) compound.

Viration absorbtion/crash absorbtion/flex type qualities... ?

Now let the F5 pre-race debut, technical autopsy and espionage review process continue.

Certainly looks like it....ankle grabber

Is it just the angle of the photo ....looks like the sump guard protrudes for foot protection?

Well, from this photo, the obvious glass fairing, lower bodywork panels (no side air ducts any longer and the front edge raked back closer to chassis).
The front lower tank/sumpguard looks different, as do the rear tanks (slimmer perhaps?) though this could be the light/colourscheme? Would be good if a google guru could find a suitable side by side photo for comparison.
From the general industry scuttlebutt, the new 450 motor has FI (anyone?) and the transmission may be now 6 speed (anyone?).
640 armageddon’s nice observation about the nav tower (a good catch by one of our F5 residents) and of course it looks like the KTM support crew a sporting nice new grey/sand coloured chino’s for the coming 2014 season.

Nope/yes... same trellis chassis/swingarm configuration as on the previous 450 RR and 690 RR before that.

No riders that have lost ankles that i am aware of...

And (looks like) they switched the sides for the exhast...? How'd I miss that?

I have just looked in this thread out of curiousity.

I need to investigate riding rallye, apparently. Done it with cars as a kid (codriver), but this looks quite entertaining!

So do we know what the new Hondas weigh?

There's a stack of carbon fibre on that back end.

Personaly, I am not so much interested about the weight (I am sure the HRC has enough horsepower this year to cope with the competition...)
,but if the subframe is 100% carbon, I wanna see the design and how it performs during crashes.... It would be weird to brake in crash. If the rear end goes kaboom bike is not usable. I wanna see if they are using it in combination with other materials...

Sam Sunderland should insist on the twin attachment point for the exhaust support ;) The threads are there on the tank. Just sayin...
