I think it might be 4 wheel drive, looking at the red bull reveal pictures there looks a lot going on around the front hub area and I would be suprised if the designer would choose put the bottom wishbone so low down on the hub unless there was a drive shaft/cv joint in the way.

All very good points - and I've looked over the pictures/artist renderings and they all looked rather "airbrushed"... so hard to say what's hard tech and what is artistic licence?

The one thing that doesn't hint at 4WD is the large air scoops and vents at the side/rear... which hint at mid mount/rear mount engine, and if that is the case, then it rules out 4WD (unless they changed the rules - again), because T1 4WD regulation dictates that the engine must remain in it's original location and orientation, with a certain % allowance (moved rearwards) regarding the engine block/relative to a line through the front axle... In other words - you cannot just stick it in the trunk like the good ol' Group B /T3 Proto days.

Even Peugeot refer to it in the press release as 2WD... but zat could be a clevér smoke screen... nes pas?!

From what I have reading, and from reliable sources about this Peugeot concept:

1- It is a 2WD: all well informed people state it. Also titre size and suspension travel showed in the pictures confirmed that regulation wise, it is a 2WD. Those high travel and big tire, are only accepted in 2wd.

2- Engine: location mid-engine. Type: Diesel. Peugeot has no feasible high cilinder gasoline engine, but plenty of expereince in diesel (HDI, ike their Le Mans effort) and available production engine for base motor. Remember that production engines are the only ba efor Dakar 2015.

3- There are some information of high involvement of SMG in the project, which sounds very reasonable considering Sainz history with SMG, and experience of Gache to develop the SMG buggies and the Great Wall vehicles.

What seems quite strange (at least in this pictures) is that it seems to stand too high for recent Dakar slow tracks, and WRC style roads.
In terms of wheelbae looks similar to latest Robby Gordon project.

In terms of looks, it is really spectacular!!

By the way read in French magazine that Peterhansel is also going to be a driver. Just had to wait until the end of May to make it official as he is still under contract with mini...

I had not seen there was a video, yes no shafts, All other things pointed to 2wd rear air scoops big, tyres, lots of suspension travel but I can not understand why they have the bottom wishbones so low down to get caught up in ruts, dragged through deep sand etc, with only 2wd you do not need anything getting caught up. this is why I designed mine like this.....

so if Peterhansel goes to Peugeot ... Nani and AA to take on Sainz and Peterhansel....could be good
I still say this is the way you leak a project... no one knows whats up... and everyone is guessing.
From my not so learned eye I am also guessing 2WD (tires are just too big), Mid engine (scoop and tires gotta go somewhere)

So what about the rally/hill climb super man? Is he going to show up in one of these somewhere?
You know who I am talking about. He did play in the Sainz's SMG, he did hug it out with Despres in the biv... what's next?

The Volvo story was a good flashback... poor Alfie, had to suffer that embarrassment.

I say Loeb goes to pug as well. Two cars is not enough. By the end of the year, they should announce more cars for a bigger effort.

I'm guessing Carlos and Cyril do the prelim testing and R&D work, Perfecthansel joins once the Mini statute of limitations runs out sometime @ mid year and Seb joins at end of year after his WTCC gig is done?

So... a 4 car PUG squad for 2015...? mmmm... possible... or maybe the holy trinity of matador, mudboy and tacticshansels for the first Dakar revival... and then fast Sebby get's another 12 months to come to grips with lumpy terrain and a navigator that has to do more than just recite high speed pace notes... His debut comes at Dakar 2016 in other words?

After seeing him in WTCC last weekend, I'm not so sure.
He has a point to prove over there and he already tasted winning. He'll be going for the title now.
They also have a busy season that ends in mid-November.

They'll probably tease us with that info until the end.
