That was Orlando Terranova, dropped out because Andy Grider left the team.

No worries. You were too busy enjoying the rally in person to keep up with the gossip around here. Lucky bastard

He spent four years in the Aprilia team, and has gone through all that developing a new bike entails (R&D, teething problems etc.) and now established as Aprilia's #1 rider with a proven package... you would wonder why he would go to a fledgling team with a built from scratch bike?

But if they are going with the now "proven" 450RR and there is the possibility of them being something along the lines off official KTM support B team... then that would seem like a legit program for chaleco to get with?

The release mentions that at KTM, any rider will automatically be the "third man" after Coma/Despres... The press release seem to indicate that at Bordone-Ferrari, Lopez will be on a level footing with team mates Viladoms and Farres... not playing second string.

Question left is, what will Aprilia do... is there a seat left vacant there now? Or is the Aprilia rally program winding down?

I would possibly maybe perhaps look for a bike from them in the next 90 days or so.. perhaps it could be built with a ktm motor.. but who knows maybe since Jordi A. is in with the Joker team and HM Honda so who knows it may be Honda .. or not They also have Alessandro Botturi

racing for them as well so thats two teams there..

just trying to keep the fire stoked at the biv!

Bordone Ferrari already have a frame made and are in talks with a small italian engine manufecturer, so far i still bet on a BF dakar bike with no KTM parts.. i have seen pics of the bikes.. Some can even be found on facebook.

Time will tell if they finish the project in time or stick with the KTMs...

Why is Helder Rodrigues using a JVO-Yamaha and not the kit he developed himself? Has he sold the design to GasGas?

Interesting... just had a look at his website... it appears that his new bike features some kind of hybrid kit - the fairing top looks similar to the JVO design, but the tanks and seat are certainly different...

My guess is that Helder is using an EFi (2012 model) WR450 this year, and as the frame is different (based on the YZF250, they say), neither his old WR kit nor the current JVO WR kit will fit exactly?

Cant find a better photo. It looks like the latest JVO rear tank. It has the twisty pipe. He says it's a new bike.

No, look again - his pipe is a low-level style one (like the Meca'system kit), not the curly YZF450 style pipe...

Also, the front tanks are not the JVO ones.

This is the tank kit of Olivier Pain's YZF450 from last year (the current carb WR450F kit is visually very similar)...

The 2012 EFi WR450F has a different frame to the carb WR450F, and also a different frame to the [reverse cylinder] YZF450.

See how his tank set up is different (picture snatched from Helder's website btw.)

I still think he's built some sort of hybrid?
