Since the instructions say to remove the tank cover and fairings but never mentions reinstalling them, I assume that they don't ever go back on? Is that correct?

That is correct. Wanna buy my old ones? They're orange. The'd look pretty good on one of the older gray ones...

Yes that is true. It replaces the side panels and faux tank cover. Anybody need those pieces in grey?

Ah, you're red-bike-guy, right? I have a mind like a steel sieve.

Mine now looks totally black from the back. Seeing the orang bits is like seeing its underwear. Tres sexy.

I would love nice new-ish grey panels..pm me a price.

I banged up both fairings and the faux tank cover and am trying to decide if I should replace them or just get the TT tank instead. Thinking the tank is the best option.

Has anybody found a set of crash bars that work with this tank? I've already scraped up my crash bars, I fear that a good drop with this tank would spell its doom... At the very least, the doom of a pretty paint job...

Ok, this TT tank is pretty sweet - seems to solve the problem well for people who are going to be away from gas stations a significant amount.

But the best part is, the look: it reminds me of 80s robo-bike cheese. I think someone should paint a Decepticon emblem on the side.

Not to my knowledge. I'm just riding and keeping my fingers crossed. If it needs fresh paint due to mishaps - I paid $240 to get it painted in the first place (including all other painted pieces) so I'm expecting to pay another $100 or so for getting some touch up paint job done.

The tank is pretty solid as many cars (i.e. Porsche) gas tanks are made from the exact same material. Haven't heard that they rupture in case of an accident. So I'm very confident that the tank will not be my primary concern in case of a mishap.
