DUAL SPORT Helmet:Arai Tour XD3,Shoei Hornet DS,or Uvex Carbon Enduro???

I've narrowed my choices to these 3 because I want one with a built in shield, and it needs to be light because of a bum neck. Does anyone one have any experience with any of these for touring & lot's of off road use. Thanks

The Arai XD3, the Shoei Hornet, the Uvex, the Fulmer Adventure, the AFX, the BMW Enduro?

Nope.

In spite of the dozen threads about those helmets within the first two pages, I don't think anyone around here has any experience with any of those.

The Arai and the Shoei were a close call and if it were not for the plush interior on the Arai it would have been a tough choice. Try them on at any BMW dealer and decide. No comment on the Uvex except they make good safety glasses.

You need to try them on with sunglasses, ear buds, speakers, etc. Try on with what you ride with. I had the Arai first. For my next helmet, I went with the shoei, but with the speakers in the helmet and my sunglasses on, the helmet was uncomfortable. I went back to the Arai.

I first bought a Shoei RF200, yeah that long ago, then switched to an Arai Quantum S, never regretted it. The Shoei created a hot spot on my forehead, the Arai had different shape helmets, though the XD3 doesn't. I only buy Arai now, I have an Arai head.

I say try the helmets on and get what is most comfortable to your head. Can't go wrong w/ Arai or Shoei, don't know about the others.

Looks like you could get an Arai AND a Hornet for the price of the Uvex.

Icon Variant

Might want to at the Icon "Variant" offering - I have a Arai "XD" now and the visor does cause a little buffeting at freeway speeds. Just a few grams difference in weight and a few bucks cheaper. The "Variant" channeling ports behind the visor seems to keep down the buffeting.

Cheers,
