Globe Riders on board? China question.

Are any of the Globe Riders members of this board?

I recently watched their show on TV, and they were able to get plates for their bikes and ride into China, ending in Xi'An.

I have been all over the web and on the HUBB, and the general consensus is that you cannot enter into mainland China riding your own (foreign) motorcycle.

I have read some articles explaining ways to get around this by entering from Laos; but I'd prefer to do it the legal way.

I won't be arriving in SE Asia until 2012 or 2013, so I have a lot of time. I'd just like to get more definite information because that are (Burma, China) are still question marks on my planned route.

BTW, I've got a couple of their DVD's including the one you mention - very good viewing

Yeah, I was on their website before I posted this thread here. I just wasn't sure if it would be appropriate to send them a message to the email listed on their website since it is associated with their business. I figured that, if they were on this board, they would mind answering that kind of question.

I might shoot them off an email and see if they get back to me.

China would just be a big part of my trip if I could enter without the cost of having to pay for an escort (since my budget doesn't allow for that kind of cost).

My good friend from college, who is originally from China, moved back there several years ago. He's got a business in Xi'An and houses in Shanghai and Beijing, so traveling through China would allow me places to stay and rest, and see a familiar face.
