I am going to go out on a limb and say it will be locked down really tight...All of the apps will cost money and you will need to pay just to turn it on...

But yes, I cant wait.

Newton v.2? I guess we'll see. I remember when the iPhone came out, thinking that something larger, not laptop sized, but larger would be pretty cool. I guess we'll see how cool tomorrow?

I've read that it will be serious competition for the various e-book tablets. I don't think it's a threat if it doesn't use an e-paper display.

Remember the New Yorker cartoon of the guy standing in front of his Hummer H1 and saying to his friend:

"You think I would have bought this $70,000 penis substitute if I'd known they were coming out with a $12 boner pill?"

The Apple fan-boys are already camped out on Mission and Howard streets, hoping to get front-row seats, and maybe a glimpse of Steve's shoes.

Yelling "Jobs! Jobs! Jobs!" and confirming that the economy is the #1 issue even for nerds and Apple geeks!*

I've got a Kindle, but there's a pretty good chance it will be on eBay tomorrow, as I suspect will be 100's of others.

The Kindle is okay, but it only does one thing. I can now read Kindle books on my PC and iPhone, so rarely even touch the Kindle itself anymore. If I can have one device that is easy to carry, and does music, movies, browsing email and books, with a bigger display than the iPhone then sign me up.

I dont see it happening. I could be wrong. But unless apple pulls an ipod or iphone here, it will just be another doodad for the fanboys to collect like pokemon. In order to do serious work, you really got to have a physical keyboard. In which case it is just another laptop. If there is no keyboard, its gonna just be a big iphone.

The display is what I am curious about. It seems like the e-paper is easier to read for pages of text only. I just had to read a 13 page contract on legal size paper. Even though I have a 24 inch monitor, I printed it because it was easier for me to read.

I'll confess to being curious...as I sit here typing on a MacBook Pro over wireless internet provided by an AirPort base station which is updating my iPhone 3GS.

Oh, forgot to mention the 2 Mac Minis for the kids and the MacBook Air for the wife.

What serious work do you do with an ipod or equivalent? or roku box? or kindle? or ? They are indeed toys and that's ok.
