Crash caused by a structural failure of the wing.

I had never heard of this bridge collapse and had of course never seen the video. Fascinating!

Looks like there may be some evidence now.

"In July, 2012, the state of North Carolina erected a historical road marker in the town of Eureka, 3 miles north of the crash site, commemorating the crash under the title "Nuclear Mishap."

eepeqez mentioned the Hindenberg, so I'm guessing aviation mishaps would fit.

Those pieces of bridge were about 15 miles away from the bridge site and I was clear that a brass plaque at Tacoma Narrows was good, plus who wants to get any closer than that to a nuclear stuff up?

I'd say that a historic marker for a nuclear accident is perfect.

Has anyone got any ideas for this one or is it time to open it up a bit?

How about evidence of any disaster, the site, a plaque, wreckage in a museum, etc, without reference to whether it was caused by a design mistake?

Of course if anyone can find, say, a Ford Pinto, a Robin Reliant, a Morris Marina or (shudder!) a Leyland P76, I think those would make most automotive engineers old enough to remember them a bit twitchy...

You're looking for evidence of a major mistake, a serious man made stuff up. The sort of disaster which makes engineers in your part of the world a bit twitchy whenever it is mentioned.
So living in the Washington DC area.....Traffic around this area is certainly man-made, It's a absolute disaster, and everyone (including the engineers) get "twitchy" when you think about being stuck in it.....but how the hell do you encompass that in a single photo

I can certainly think of some cool things to tag, but I'm overseas away from my bikes, and I think half the US is getting some sort of blizzard right now. That may be the issue.

I was going to post a picture of a Toyota Camry floor mat but figured that would be pushing it a bit far!

OK, while it looks like just any other field, it is the field just off the approach end of Runway 32. This is where C-5 4059 crashed (crew error).

Let me know if this is acceptable

Not much of a "disaster" except to the property value of all those "lake front" homes..lol
