A /7 seat will fit a /6 but there will be a gap between the seat and the tank. The tank on a /7 is longer. To make it look right you should use the /7 tank. Easier to get a /6 or Long Wheel Base (LWB) /5. The seat from a LWB /5 works but the tank from a /5 doesn't work at all because of the under tank Master Cylinder.

It doesn't have to have a key, but that would be great! I will forward the cash to you however you choose and pay paypal fees if you need.

Thanks!!!

This is what I have discovered too. I had a 90S seat on the /6 but that gap was just a bit too much. I will stick with the No Gap /6 or LWB /5 seats.

I've got one with lockset for a monolever R100 rs, was going to keep it for a spare tank (and I don't think BMW sells these anymore) but PM me an offer and I'll respond.

PS - does anyone know how to tell if a gas cap is a "SHED" gas cap or not? I've got 2, one has no lock and has a brass threaded plug body - the other is aluminum and has a key.....

I've been using the one without key and doesn't seem to be a problem- but I hear the shed cap is not good (?)

Looking for a SWB R75/5

Hey everyone! I'm looking for my first (rideable) airhead (I already own a super-trashed R60/5). I'm pretty much sold on the SWB /5's and would want the biggest available (the R75) for obvious reasons. I'm partial to the grey ones and also to euro bars but paint isn't that important and bars can be changed. I'd like one that's running but would be open to a non-runner under the right circumstances. I'm also young, un(self)employed, and no stranger to old bikes so a fly-and-ride for the right bike would be right up my ally. PM me, e-mail me at williams.jonathan.d@gmail.com, or call me at (501)590-1147

R100GS or R dual seats for sale

Posted this earlier, but they were buried in another post with other items. I have two dual seats for sale that will fit a GS or R (and maybe a couple of other models?)

Both are stock. One is all black and has original cover in perfect condition. The other is black and grey and appears to have been re-covered. They did a good job as it looks perfect as well. I'm asking $200 each.

PM me if interested.

I am buying a house and thinking of selling my old airhead. I will have pictures up by tomorrow at the latest. I'll try to describe it as well as possible and hopefully my price it fair. It has 54K+ miles

The Good:
134 PSI each cylinder cold. Cylinders still had good X hatch marks on them.
Mikuni Carbs
Pretty new timing chain and tensioner
New plugs
New oil filter
New Airfilter
New Oil Change
Deep oil pan
Newish Boyer electronic ignition
Newish NGK plug wires
Big Silver Bosch Coils
A set of lasertecs with only about 1K on them.
Runs pretty good. Just went from LA to Vegas in the dead of summer with no problems
New clutch cable
New front brakes
All lights work
slotted rear brake pedal
Reynolds ride off stand
Reynolds back rest
New seals in the engine (even though the brand new pushrod seals split) They arent leaking though
De carboned the heads and pistons (appears it had new seats installed at some point in its life)
Odometer works
Recent pline lube
Luggage rack with no luggage.
Recently repacked front and rear wheel bearings
Brand new needles/needle seats in both carbs
Brand new mains also
I have:
Repair book
Northwood Airheads exhaust nut wrench
Northwood Airheads Swing arms socked
Northwood Airheads Rear main seal installer
New rear main seal that goes with the bike
New center stand bolts and bushings
New black ceramic coated head pipes
New repro mufflers.
Doesnt leak any oil

The bad
Engine case is dirty
Scratches in the RH mirrorm Front brake handle, very small scratch on the RH valve cover. The wind here in the california desert blew it off the side stand onto its side. It was a 0 mph incident.
Paint is nice, but has some chipping and some scratches
Its an old bike.
Probably some other small stuff, but I would hesitate to jump on it and ride it anywhere.

I am asking $2700 OBO. I will have some nice new pics by tomorrow.

Taken in Baker CA it was 112 that day

This is the bike in its current state though.

SOLD!!

Older Jesse Bags and racks. Complete. Fits R80GS and R100GS
Well used with lots of patina.
PO rattle canned them, as photos show it didn’t stick perfectly.
PO also repaired both where needed.
These are not completely waterproof. They close tight and have locks, but no keys. Keys are available from http://www.jesseluggage.com/
They work well, but they show that they have been used.

Do not use the key! Never lock this style cap unless you are going to ride around with a drill and a 1/8 bit to open it when (not if) it fails

Couple airhead items

One, I have recently discovered that I need a rear plate for an airhead 5-speed transmission. Mine is cracked at the output flange and has been repaired with JB weld before. Pic below:

I would be up for buying a whole tranny if I needed to.

Second, I need the air scoop hood for the starter cover. Mine is half missing. Lots on ebay if I want to buy the starter cover also. Need one for this style starter cover:

Thanks!

If you just need a cap to ride the bike, gas caps for Ford/Lincolns throughout the mid 90s work fine. For daily use I have a good ole Stant locking cap on the R80, and save the BMW cap for special occasions. As a bonus, I discovered the stock OEM cap on my 95 Town Car has a groove for the tether that exactly fits the BMW trim ring that goes around the BMW cap - Who'd a thunk?
