"Ural".

It's Russian for "Bring your wrenches"...

Laugh Ural's...

Personally I have absolutely zero experience with Ural motorcycles... But I do know a couple of Ural jokes.

- Ural - When you're just too pissed off at it to spell out UnReliAbLe

- Ural - Named after the mountains, because neither ever moves

- Ural - The actual mountains may be faster

Ha - you got KLRd by the sales people. Jokes on them - a lot of Tenere owners are either current or former KLR owners.

Hey guys...

Note I said I had absolutely no experience with Ural motorcycles, and I've got no axe to grind against 'em. In fact, I've always thought I'd like to own one somewhere along the way. I've ridden a couple of hacks, but never owned one. Looks like it'd be fun.

I just said I knew a couple of Ural jokes, and passed 'em on... Ya' know, like...

- "Harley-Davidson - Made of tin. Ride 'em out, and push 'em in."

- BMW - B-ring M-ore W-allet

- Bultaco (or Montesa or Ossa) - Quality, with crank bearing made from the finest mahogany available

And don't get me started on Lucas electrics lines...

And I've owned Beemers and Bultaco's... And I currently own an H-D XR1200...

That's always what I thought - that they'd be a lot of fun, but low-speed, just bopping about fun.

My girlfriend's finishing up her CRNA clinicals right now, and when she's done in about a year we have plans to move to a small coastal town near here to slow down and chill out away from the city hub-bub. I've always thought a Ural hack rig would be great for just slow cruising around there and along the cool little roads that hug the bays in the area... Never getting more than a few miles from home.

Plenty of room to carry, as you say, a cooler full of beverages, or groceries, or any other Sunday afternoon relaxing gear one might wanna' carry.

It's kind of an cool, funky, eclectic place over there and I think a Ural hack rig would fit right in!

Thanks!

Dallara

Was that parked by choice or are you killing time waiting for the Uralhauler?

Lived here 51 years and never been sking. They claim it's the "Greatest snow on earth".
I'll take their word for it. There's no way the knees would allow it now. I just get to move
snow from point A to point B.

Caribbean cruise next week. That should finish up any New Years weight loss plans I had.
It will be worth it to get out of the deep freeze.

Now back to whatever the topic was. I don't drink, but between Snakebitten's photos and
all this snow...talk to me.

Can't tell you how many times I've almost pulled the trigger on a Ural Patrol. They just take
up so much garage space and I'm afraid the novelty would wear off quickly. Though side
car set ups are soooooooo fun.

Wreckchecker wears a panda hat as chick repellant.(seems to work) I do cause it was cold.

May only have to shovel once today! Storm seems to finally run it's course. Yeah!

Hey Dallara,

The Ural probably gets around quicker than all those golf carts running around in that small coastal town close by. :) And much more fun too. Cheaper even.

Pluric,

I really rarely have a drink. None of those bottles are less than 8 years old and most of the consumption is by guests. But if I lived where you get snowed in, I suspect the shelf life would shrink dramatically. I just couldn't take it. (Unless snowmobiles were street legal and could be used for road travel. That would change everything)
