In my neck of the woods, I deal with a six month riding season. Bullshit postings on my preferred websites, when I'm interested in something to lift my spirits in the off season, leaves me hoping you'll forget your "soap on a rope" next time you head in for your communal shower, lonely heart.

Tristano and I have the same "friend" (Pacifico) as we both write on an italian forum...

Well it was all big scam and we are alredy organizing a punishing team

But it's true that from more direction everybody is pointing to this new model of supertenere' and that it would have make sense to presented in Italy now...

first production year was 1989, so it could have been out for the 20 years anniversary...

pity, I was really waiting for it...

Perhaps we could start a whole new thread dedicated to the most original forms of punishment to be inflicted on Tristano & his friend. eg a red hot needle inserted up a particularly sensitive part of the male anatomy. This should fill the gap until a super 10 comes through.

guys, listen to me!!

DSC and I and many others, we all, are organising the punishment expedition against THE ONLY GUILTY, Mr. PACIFICO!!!!

PACIFICO IS THE DEVIL

I'm a victim, like all of you, of his perverse joke, I'm more victim of many of you all 'cause I'm looking around to find next bike and the supposed to be in Milan new tenere 1200 could be an interesting choice.

These are the facts!!

Now beer for everybody

Oh and Honda....no beer for you either for keeping the Transalp out of the US. You suck too. Bold new graphics for '09...that will be sure to make me buy a bike I don't want.

Sorry, a little PUI tonight and sick and tired of year after year of few choices and the rest of the world getting bikes we would love, while the poser crowd gets yet another cruizer. My Kubota is more fun to ride on then one of them, and is far more useful.

I think they all pretty much SUCK: yamaha, honda, suzuki... there's plenty of people that are waiting for a japanese DS bike and nobody is doing anything..

The Varadero is a good bike, but honda could do better..

the Vstrom is a good bike, but suzuki could do better...

For yamaha there's not much to say, no bike they couldn't do any worste..

Triumph has the bike there, the Tiger, just a couple of mods and would be a marvellous DS.. but nothing..

I'll keep my 1996 Africa Twin for many many many years to come, I suppose..

In my opinion the GS800 is the only middle weight bike currently offering real off-road performance together with good road capability. Its drawbacks are lack of decent sized tank (16L) and in my opinion feeble fittings and questionable reliability. Despite these drawbacks it has been a great sales success. This cannot have escaped the attention of the Japanese manufacturers.
Yamaha have perhaps a closer eye on this sector judging from the launch of the XT660 tenere. If this bike meets their sales expectations together with the success of the GS800 its almost certain a twin cylinder bike will follow.
The only questions in my mind are when? and will it be a useful middle-weight tool capable of on/off road or will they go for the mega adventure tourer with minimal off-road suitability.
My guess is it will probably come by mid-2009.

Laugh

I was at the UK NEC motorcycle show yesterday. For what its worth a Yamaha employee stated that the company had been pleased with sales of the 660 Tenere and predicted that a Super Tenere was likely within 12 months and that it would be in the 750cc-900cc range using a TDM based engine.

That's encouraging; perhaps aimed at the 800GS rather than the 1200GS, which I think is a smart move.

The wait continues..
