Hmm...looks like Tenere 2008 chassis with minor alterations in picture...apologies for asking, but would it be possible to tell what is written in little letters in right upper corner from big picture, kinda little paragraph...can't make it out? I know there copyrights and stuff - just sum it up? I am not being sarcastic, genuine interest.

"our computer-generated image shows how the new Super Tenere 1200 could look when it hits dealers in 2009"

If it came out, looking like that, in the US, I'd buy it... something tells me though that if its 1200cc it'll be closer to a GS and not really in the spirit of the old Super Ten.

Think we can whip this up into such a frenzy that we can get more posts than the F800GS thread? At the rate BMWs going this Yamaha may beat them to market.

First, the "picture" that MCN published is a photoshop'd pic of the XT660Z with a line of text added to say "1200". Second, the 2008 Tenere hasn't even been released anywhere in the world, and MCN is touting release "later this year.", Riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiight. As much as I would like to see the XT660Z come here (US), it won't happen for at least 18 months (if ever). There will be NO 1200 Super Tenere - if anything, they would take the TDM 900/950 twin & make it look like a Supere Tenere. I hate to burst anyone's bubble(s), but vaporware this definitely is.

The article also states that Triumph are working on an off-road Tiger, and that KTM will have the RC8 engine in a 'touring' and 'dakar' bike. Also Aprilia are replacing the Capo.

You pretty much echo my thoughts dude. The only thing I will add is that it will probably come with 17" wheels front and rear like the Uly, Tiger and Multistrada.

Wow.

That is a nice picture.

Why are they afraid of success?

I'd gladly take that TDM engine in something that looks like a Super Tenere! That's exactly what I want. I don't need a 1200, just a nice 900 would be great.

A 1200 parallel twin?
Does it come with a half-gallon of Locktite?

I like the idea. I also like the 800GS. I have a DL650 and will eventually need to upgrade.

Let's just say the Yamaha does get made, looks similar to the pic on page 2, and comes to the U.S., and on top of all that, is about the same price as the 800GS.....I'll probably end up with one.

I'm off to shit in one hand now
