The standard S10 sits between the GS and KTM but close to the GS. The R version has been tweaked a bit more towards the KTM end of the spectrum.
It's not an official version as far as I know though, but there are some ideas there for people who like to fiddle and make a shaft drive KTM. It's still a 20% bigger bike though.

Don't be sorry. Its all true, if the BMW worshipers cant deal with it then that is their problem.
I often thought about goning "back" to GSpot and tell em about it but did not want to get myself banned.

I did laugh at the Tosser that said everyone wants a BWM. He needs serious amounts of therapy and his blinkers removing. In fact, I will go over there and tell him now.

Just had a call from the dealer i bought the bike from. For a limited time (May) Yamaha UK are now throwing in free luggage, spot lamps, fairing deflectors and crash bars for free. Typical. Same thing happened with the VFR12 i had.
The sales guy reckons he'll get in touch with the area rep on Monday to try and get me the deal retro fitted. Such is life.

I would guess this means they are struggling with sales in the UK? If people read, and believe, the Fastbikes and Bike tests, that's not surprising. Also the price is a pretty big hurdle when running up against established competition at about the same price. So they had two options to give sales a boost - reduce the price (an admission that they got it wrong in the first place) or throw in some free extras.

That more or less sums it up. The Ten hasn't won the press over, like the VFR 1200 oddly enough, but having spent 12 hassle free months with the Honda, i get the same vibe from the Yamaha. Not the most popular, but great to live with.
Anyone looking to get one over here will now get a great deal.

I should add that BMW are throwing in free side cases with the GS now and Triumph were doing a big promo with the Tiger. Similar to the S10 deal i think.

BMW are always giving away free panniers with the GS, so nothing new there. Though there are rumours that the bike's going to be water cooled before too long.

The Tiger 1050 is probably on its way out, with the new, improved 1200 coming later this year.

Bike magazine likes the VFR, but they seem to be in a minority there. I don't know if anyone has gone out on a limb for the S10 though.

I think that's inevitable though. The emission regs are getting a bit tight to be letting the motor run at too many different temperatures. I wonder whether the bike will get heavier or weaker?

So, in Europe is there going to be a requirement for the switch to turn off ABS to be left off all bikes in the next couple of years?? I read that somewhere but not sure. Anyone know the facts?

Afaik ABS will be mandatory on all bikes by 2017.
