Fantastic. We are at T minus three weeks for our lap of the country and I can't wait!

Now Boss - About all this paper on my desk.....

Unplug the switch

Fabricate a connector

Put 1,000 miles on the Super-T over the last week and still haven't gotten to making a jumper. Hopefully can do it tonight.

From the engineering aspect, it very well may work for two reasons. First, as somebody else mentioned, a designer would typically want a slightly richer mixture for starting, which is just what we are doing by turning out the one screw for the throttle body sync. Second, the ECU is typically as unencumbered as possible when starting a motor.

The cool part is that you don't need a dyno to see if it works. Time a few passes through the bottom 3 gears or between two fixed points with the jumper, and several more passes without the jumper. The difference in averages will either be there or it won't.

I'm sure somebody will start posting numbers soon.

Look REAL close at the wires going into the black sleeve and the insulation is probably deformed/shot. Yamaha has been replacing them on warranty and there's a thread about it in the Tenere forum.

ADV doesn't like links and I'd rather not go to Banned Camp so paste the following into a Google search to find the now 16 page thread:
Yamaha Super Tenere forum Cooked Headlight Harness

And PLEASE post your failure at www.SAFERCAR.GOV
While this is a link, it is to the NHTSA Office of Defect Investigations. If we can get enough of these, we stand a chance of a recall, although I am certain that Yamaha is already looking into the problem.

Unless I'm totally confused, nothing wrong with linking to info on other sites. http://www.advrider.com/forums/misc.php?do=showrules

I'm going to pick up my Tenere in an hour! This bike has literally 0 miles on the odometer.

I've broken in new engines before, but I'm not above learning new things so talk to me about your new bike break-in techniques. What do you do?

Owners manual basically says don't keep the RPMS at an excessive number for an extended period of time. Example: don't go from show room to a 2 hour drive interstate drive at 80mph! I have always been told by experienced riders/mechanics to make sure you do lost of compression breaking, along with variations in speed/rpm's. Compression breaking apparently helps to "seat" the piston rings!

I did have major doubts myself but this morning I checked it out the ONLY correct way and took her to the local drag track where the restrictions shows out. Well .F.M.D it has gone the throttle response is now 1 to 1 with throttle input not I dial 100% and the ECU says no you only need 47% type of thing.

My S10 was already running really well with the PC.V and Autotune ,Arrow Headers, Leo Vince Can and DNA filter so the improvement was Good but the bike was already much improved over stock.

Cheers Rick

Clutch switch jumper

I did it last night and rode to work today. Can it be this simple. All the off idle stumble is gone. It pulls like it should off the line now. I did notice my fuel MPGs are down from 46 to 40 so I assume this some how take the lean out of it. I just don't understand why this works but it does. I will put it back and ride home tonight to see if the stumble returns.
More on this later..

I just went for another good ride and tried T mode this time. Before I jumpered the connector there was a pretty dramatic difference between T and S modes and now there is virtually no difference. I kept checking to see if it had switched itself back to S.

Weird.

But do check these things when you try it.

EDIT also, it seems this mod unrestricts the engine in 2+3, 4-5-6 stay the same. Most users report a loss of the infamous "dip" around 2500rpm
With the jumper installed on the clutch switch the start in gear safety is removed but the kickstand safety remains.
