When a person grabs a tag (and the mascot) but fails to place it in a new location within 48 hours, how can the tag and mascot "be grabbed by anyone else, and they may post the new tag" when the first person still has possession of the mascot?

Also, are batteries required to hear what the mascot has to say?

Fred
Normally, if the tag and mascot are not dropped in 48hrs, the next person to grab the tag gets to pick the new mascot. If I recall correctly, this game started with a Holy Snail, and has had a few mascots since. Somebody tell me if I'm off base here. After all the drama with the USA ToR and Nutsy, I don't want to start a flame war.

Personally, I think if the person that grabbed the tag keeps the other players informed as to the circumstances they are in and when the drop will be, there is no need for a time limit. But if the mascot is AWOL and the tagger has disappeared (like the National games seemed to have been plagued with recently) then I think it is fine if the new tagger picks a new mascot and keeps the game going.

Awesome grab mheitman !! Really a nice day to make the grab. Where to now?
BTW those panniers are almost as big as mine (and from the same place too).
What are you riding? Looks sweet.

Thanks. It's my new to me '11 Versys. I've had it about 3 weeks, came with the panniers and a lowering link. ...link is out, and a better seat has been sourced. Just need some bash protection and blocky tires.. Loving it so far.

Can't move orange too far.. probably tomorrow morning out near the King ranch ;)

Really glad that you grabbed the orange (as he is an ornery bastard). Any move with this guy is a good one'.

Thanks again mheitman

The Drop.

Official Tag Shot:

Easier to read..

Orange.

Orange is just south of the intersection. He is by this tree stump.. He said something about liking carpenter ants..

Tree location of the stump from the tag shot (circle).

He is under this obvious piece of bark.

Did I say obvious..

NOTE:

Google has it as 'Hilltop VIEW Rd'. It is gravel. The lower section between the tag and orange is very well groomed and should be doable for everyone. If not, it's a short walk.

For the adventurous gravel seekers, I would suggest an approach from the south riding up and over hilltop VIEW rd..

Part B of my tag.

I am a casual tag player. I know there are some here who make great sacrifices to keep these games moving. That being said. I've had orange twice.

NOTE the Date. This wasn't intentional. ...but it might be in 2015.

Great drop!!!

Thanks mheitman for a very interesting drop!
If I get the time this weekend I am planning on making a grab (as it is only 1 1/2 hours from Baltimore). Looks like some interesting roads around there.

Yes. and I think the sign at the other end may be Hilltop View rd. /I did call out the name discrepancy at the very bottom of my tag post - I'll do a better job next time. ;) /

Your picture of orange grab, you are very short to ride a tall bike.

Grab

Tag grab:

Nice riding in this area of Chester County.
The tree stump near where the orange was hiding.

I approached from the south. It was an "interesting" ride. Lots of ruts and rocks and potholes.
