It took a month to get him to respond to my order cancellation and money refund request. That was three weeks ago with a promise to send the money. Two weeks ago he responded telling me it takes a few days, be patient. Today, still no money, still no word from him despite countless voice mails, emails, faxes etc...

Was at his place in March 2014. Rick Mayer is a total 1st class deadbeat. Stay away would be good advice.

Still waiting on my refund. got an email today from his assistant indicating refund was in progress.

If I don't get it this week, will then seek relief in small claims court. I have it in writing from him that he owes me the money. We'll see what the judge has to say about that.

Hopefully he'll do the right thing and return my money before it comes to that.

Very sad....

Damn... sorry to hear all this stuff. Just found this thread and it looks like things have went bad for quite a few of you guys.

I had him build me a seat back in June of 2010 spur of the moment before a last minute kind of Alaska ride. Sent pics and express shipped it to him across the country. He had it done and back within 1-1/2 to 2 weeks. Rode it for somewhere near 44,000mi then in June 2012 swung in to the shop while heading back to the PNW and ask him to do a slight mod. He did a bang up job and I now have near 69,000mi on that thing, super comfortable. Using a Butt Pad from Barb up at Alaska Leather I have logged several 950mi days... and dozens and dozens between 500 and 750mi. Heck Parepin and I did 750mi on the Dalton in a day while I used this seat without the sheepskin.

Again sorry to hear that his communication has been pretty awful for a lot of you and also sorry to hear that he seems to be having some home/family? problems, working out of a commercial shop or so. I'll be sending some healing to everyone involved.

If I read this thread right... no one ever gets a rain cover that they paid for?

No he isn't. The apple doesn't fall far from the tree in the Mayer family, I'm afraid to say. The issues I have had with Bill Mayer Saddles have been different than those discussed here about Rick, but no less concerning, IMO. Said in one sentence, Rocky (Bill) does not stand behind his product, contrary to what he claims. I wouldn't give the business to either of them.

Got my own story to tell, but it'll have to wait until after Friday.

More of the same

Let's keep in mind he lost his best seat maker to private practice. That was a game changer in quality. Add zero ability to run a business and BMW snobbery and you have many other good choices in this space. Move along, move along.

How many years should we expect excuses for his nonsense?

JBV you misunderstand. No excuses. Reread my agreement with thread. If somebody with a RMC (and presumably likes it) from many years ago and wants a replace, not the same seat in my view. Stitching, inflexible leather (doesn't stretch), horror stories with stapling. Add to that a don't give a shit attitude and well there are many quality guys in this arena.

I was reading through the list of seminars that will be conducted at this year's BMW MOA rally in St. Paul and noticed one in particular: "3:15 pm - 3:45 pm Comfortable Distance Riding, Rick Mayer" http://bmwmoa.org/TheRally/ArtMID/31...-Schedule.aspx

The rally vendor list includes Bill Mayer but no mention of Rick Mayer.

So I guess the question I have is whether the "Rick Mayer" who is conducting the seminar is the same Rick Mayer who is the subject of this thread.
