I picked up my new Baja Telecaster today. 7lbs, 4oz of sweet Tele goodness!

I've got a set of Glendale saddles on order. I'm thinking of putting humbuckers in it, since I have another Tele with Nocasters in it. I've got a Seymour Duncan Jazz humbucker and a Lil 59 that will drop right in the bridge. I'll have to route the body for the neck pickup and replace the pickguard.

Post your thoughts on the lil 59 if you drop it into the bridge. I've been on the fence with swapping out the bridge pickup on my telecaster with a lil '59 for a while now as I want a little more umph out of the bridge but don't necessarily want to lose too much twang. Perhaps I'm asking for too much.

Anyone remember the debacle of about 5 or 6 years ago when they were going to do a Jimi Hendrix tribute model that was a Strat copy? They took so much heat after the initial press release that they never did come out with it.

Sorry, but at this point I've lost all respect for that company.

Me too. Henry and Dave are riding the company into the ground.

They're doing a tad better than Nashville. Maybe.

I had the lil 59 in another Tele, a thinline. It's not a muddy, high output pickup at all. You won't loose all your twang. You can also coil tap it if you really want to keep the single coil sound.

All this talk about Tele's took me down to Guitar Center to try one out again. Never gotten along with them (I like Strat's) but man, I really, really clicked with this F-hole version. Very nice to play for a relatively cheap gee tar.

That (a 72 Deluxe) is my "garage" guitar these days. Used to be my "office" guitar but I sold that office.

I was just on the Warmouth guitar parts site and thinking about building my first parts guitar. I'm leaning toward a Tele Thinline, Surf Green or transparent Sunset Orange, satin finish nitro maple neck with rosewood board, pearl binding and pickguard, TV Jones p/u's and a Bigsby! I haven't added up the parts but I'm guessing around $1200-1300. Any of you guys gone down this road, and how did it turn out?
